How to keep my focus
Hey everyone, I have a question and was hoping for some advice. Recently i changed my profession and started working in administration. Now that I'm working with billings etc is it important that I keep my focus for a while. But it seems that is a point where I struggle with. Looking at the screen for a long time and maintain my focus on what I am doing is very hard. And it makes it even harder when there is a lot of chatter of people around me. Then my head really feels like it can explode and I want to scream.I get distracted easely. I already talked about it at work and they know that when it gets to much I'm alowed to distance myself in an other room. But it is something i'd rather not do. It also gives me a feeling like i've failed if i do that. And when people have questions i'd like to be around so I can answer right away. So I was wondering if some of you have advice for me. I prefer natural based products above the chemicals. I was also if it is a good idea to buy me some special noise cancelling earplugs. But I dont just want to spend to much money if it doesnt work or help me. I've heard much about the loops earplugs but I dont know if they are worth the money. What are your opinions and experiences? Thanks already 😊!

@Sarah Peetermans It sounds like you are just starting a new relationship with your brain in addition with your co-workers. Think of it like dating! You really want to get to know your brain and what makes it happy, calm, excited, sad, overwhelmed, mad, frustrated, etc... Over time you will learn that you being you is exactly what it needs and wants. It will just take a little time to figure it out. Give yourself permission to take care of your wants, needs and desires. Who cares what anyone else thinks! You are the only one that suffers if you don't head those nudges to get up and move. You were hired to do a job because of your assets, not your liabilities! You've got this! Embrace the "difference" in you! Lord knows, this world would be extremely boring if we were all the SAME! Same ability, sex, race, belief systems, emotions...how would you like to live in a black and white world?? Yuck! I much prefer the rainbow of people!!! Setting expectations of your co-workers is also a good place to start to limit interruptions so you can focus. Using noise cancelling headphones with focus brain frequencies will be very beneficial to you, but getting up and taking breaks is also very beneficial. You will find your balance between the 2. When you have your headphones on, put a sign up on when and how you can help your team. Communicate, communicate, communicate!!!
Why do I feel so ashamed
I am so disappointed in myself today.. šŸ˜“ Again I got overwhelmed. Why? I felt the signs that it all started to get to much and I used some music to try and calm myself down. But still I wanted to hear what happend around me so the music was only half as effective. I really dont want to leave the room to go and work at an other desk. But I think I dont have a choise in the matter anymore and need to follow-up my heads needs šŸ˜ž The thought of failure and shame are killing me right now..

@Sarah Peetermans I'm not sure how you start your day but maybe locking in your safety so your nervous system doesn't get so overwhelmed during the day. This can look like a meditation or affirmation of sorts. It is just a brief reminder to the system that everything is going to be ok and that you ARE SAFE! I know it's easier said than done but it wouldn't hurt to try. We are so bombarded by information and tasks and expectations and...it's no wonder we get overwhelmed in our environments. There is NO SHAME in that. You are just responding to what your system is receiving from the environment. It's great that you went to music as that is a great tool to help balance your system. Remember, this is a process and not an event! Every little positive change you make now will grow 100fold over time. Congrats on having the awareness about yourself! That in itself is HUGE!!!!

Wow! @Jim Ebbelaar I literally feel like I won the lottery! Thanks so much and can't wait to test and provide feedback.
Wow! Wow! Wow! These Protocols Work!
For two days in a row I have not hit a 2-3 pm mental and physical slump. What did those days have in common? Morning Sun, Movement, no food after 7:30, All Screens off by 9, in bed with a book by 9:30, lights out at 10. Excited for a third day in a row!

@Cathy A Castagna I wonder if it is just the peace and quiet when everyone else is sleeping? That is part of the reason I like the wee hours!
Grief Wearing Workout Clothes
I've been sleeping well and my energy's been high and I went for a walk yesterday for the first time in forever. This morning as it got to about 10:30 and I still hadn't gone for a walk I decided to have a conversation with SAGE about my resistance to exercise when most of my life I have been athletic. SAGE brought me to tears again by pointed out something that I haven't seen because I've been too busy beating myself up for being sedentary. "You're not a person who doesn't want to exercise You're an athlete who is grieving what her body used to do" Holyflippinguacamole! So after I just sob for a while I think I'll go for a walk! This is SAGE's title, I edited it because his was much better than my original one!

@Darci Wert I can so relate. I remember when I started with a trainer again. I had messed up my shoulder and hadn’t been to the gym in forever. It’s not really a place that I have ā€œfunā€ and like to frequent. There were so many things going on during those first visits back. Fear of failure…. grief like Sage mentioned to you. A deep sadness that I allowed my body to get that way. I left a lot of tears on the gym floor after I couldn’t even do 1 pushup!! What I did learn is that healing is a process. I gave myself some time and grace to at least get back into the gym. That’s progress! It has been slow going but I know my body can completely heal. I do believe in miracles!!! And a bit of exercise and intentional living! Progress is 1 step at a time. Congrats on your first step. Let’s celebrate that you will take many, many more and that the memories of feeling good will over power any grief of what was.
