Introduction.
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris, a 45yo from NC. Currently going through a separation which will lead to an uncontested divorce with basically 50/50 custody. Every other two week rotation I get him 6 instead of 7 days due to work. We are just working out the remainder of the equitable distribution. I say all this because I’ve read through some of y’all’s situations and it’s completely fucked, evil even and as uncomplicated mine is compared to some of y’all’s this shit still rocked me in a way I’ve never experienced before. If anyone here ever needs someone to vent on or just to talk to shoot me a message, I turned notifications on, I’m hear for ya. Chris
TODAY SUCKS.
I’m not gonna dress it up. I’m exhausted. I’m living out of my truck, I could really use a roof over my head tonight, and my brain will not shut the hell up. And the shit with my kids is hitting hard today. Sometimes I think people forget because I’m posting, joking, going to school, working and trying to build something that this is actually my life. This isn’t content to me. Those are my kids. I miss them. And some days that shit hurts more than I know what to do with. I told you this community would get the real version of me. Well, this is the real version tonight. No motivational ending. No pretending I figured something out. Today was just hard.

All these divorces are difficult, but man, some of y’all’s stories are horrific. If you ever want to vent on someone, hit me up. I lost much of my community as well.

Assume everything is a scam first.
Parental alienation and restraining order
When I was a child my mother cheated on my father with his best friend. She collected child support filled restraining orders one after another he had to pay the child support ontop of lawyers to fight one restraining orders one after another eventually he gave up his rights. My mother had her husband adopt me robbing me of my last name the man who did descusting things to me the day before adopting me is when it started. Now I'm going through custody battle for my children with my mother. She now doing the same bullshit she done to my father to me. It's messed up how mf can cry wolf and no consequences just trying to manipulate the system to hurt someone to benefit them self

Learn To Be Alone ✊🏻
Sometimes a man needs isolation—not to disappear, but to think, rebuild, and figure out who he is without everyone else’s noise.

4 months in to the separation and near divorce. Learning to be alone without unhealthy distraction. I’ve always chosen distraction. I’m getting there though.

@Justin Mills Here comes the whole answer. My father died when I was 10 and he WAS my identity at that point in my life. I had the best Mom ever, but I could never identify with her the way I did my Dad. I’m the absence of an identity I developed something called fantasy prone personality, and I would fantasize often even into young adulthood. As I grew the fantasies were replaced with scenarios, possible outcomes, etc. but the pattern remained and has lead me to being an avoidant personality in my life and used to constant mental stimulation. “Responsible” amounts of alcohol and marijuana also fueled the avoidance. What this divorce has taught me is that I’ve basically become an avatar to my own life. It seems the only time I’ve ever been truly present to my life is when I’m with my 4yo son and that has its challenges as well. I’ve been drinking some lately, typically two tall boys in a session and golly it makes me an emotional mess the next day even though I’m not hungover, doom scrolling, dwelling in the past and worrying about the future have been my distractions.
