Hi Alexis - if you need a partner to practice then I'd love to be there for you. This week a bit tied up between my SNF job and prepping for my upcoming in person Vision Workshop on 9/19. Next week I'm breathing a bit with more open times to meet if you want. Ps. I do have a bit of an accent (Afrikaans is my first language but I'm fluent in English...don't hold me to grammar or phonetics SO keep that in mind) ;)

@Alexis Jameson Hi Alexis - Did you send me a message? I did not see a message.
🚀 Momentum Monday
I have a bone to pick with motivation. She’s flaky as hell. Shows up when she feels like it. Gets you all excited. Then disappears when you actually need her. Rude. So I stopped waiting for her. I’d rather make a decision. Decisions don’t require a mood. You decide. Then you move. Some days you’re fired up. Some days you’d rather stay in your pajamas and eat cereal. Both days count. So what are you doing this week whether Motivation decides to grace you with her presence or not? Make the decision. Then do the do.

Oh agree...my Momentum Moment - just make the decision and do it - or don't! I have an In Person Vision Workshop this upcoming Saturday and as excited (and to be honest, nervous) as I am... as it feels like so much to do... TODAY, I'm focusing on what I have on my Activity Log - the one I decided to create and I decide to follow. 💪

Ditto - I learned this from my days with Bob Proctor - keep me on task and create less of a stress about 'did I miss anything' etc ;)
Why Did I Choose to Show Up Here?
One reason I joined this community is because I value being around people who want to share their life experiences while receiving support and having others cheer them on. Hello. I’m Alexis. A little about my background and the experiences that shaped me: • I am a mom to two hearing children—a junior and a 5th grader attending Carlsbad schools. Both communicate with me in spoken English. • My first schooling experience was at UCSB, not a regular preschool like most people attended. I had a speech therapist and child psychologist who helped me model social behaviors—similar to the character Eleven in Stranger Things, if you know the show. But it was a nurturing environment. • I gradually continued my preschooling/Pre-K at USC John Tracy Clinic, so I was surrounded by professionals while I learned to communicate, rather than experiencing the standard conversations children typically have in preschool. • I later attended Tucker Maxon Oral School in Portland, Oregon. The educational curriculum was based on Catholic schooling, along with continued speech therapy. I was then mainstreamed into a Catholic school and later into public middle and high schools. I secretly wish I had stayed in private school because I value merit, discipline, and hard work. I am not defined by religion and not practicing religion. • Honorable Mention Poetry Contest Winner for Washington Park Zoo in Portland, Oregon. • VIP Softball player. District champion. • VIP Gymnast. Placed 44th in the state finals out of 500 gymnasts. • First deaf cheerleader; taught cheer camps. • 2nd place in the nation in a cheerleading competition, out of 3,000 cheer squads from most of the 50 states. • First deaf journalist for middle and high schools: Newspaper and Yearbook. • FIDM, LA Campus graduate. I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills and went on to a career as a visual artist, set designer, costume assistant to a designer, and worked on fashion shows and Broadway shows. • I was accepted into 5 architectural colleges, but life took a turn.

Hi Alexis, oh my goodness — thank you for such a wonderful share. I feel like you shared more about the art of conversation than I ever could have or to be honest thought of until today! 😊 I was so struck by your story and by the way you have chosen to experience and navigate your world. Your dedication, drive and willingness to keep showing up as yourself seem to have opened up such a full and interesting life for you. And you are a beautiful writer — you touched on so many realities of life that I recognize in my own life and in the people around me. Something you said really touched me: that it is not only about communication, but about how we communicate — and sometimes how little we truly communicate. So much of it is shaped by our ideas of what is “normal,” what is expected, what fits into our schedules, and even what makes us comfortable or uncomfortable. I can certainly be guilty of some of that myself, and yet I also yearn for those true, open, safe and life-giving conversations. The kind that can lift you when you are down, teach you something without making you feel intimidated or “outdated,” and allow two people with completely different life experiences to simply be curious about one another. I hear you on that. Your post also reminded me of something from my childhood. I grew up in Worcester, South Africa, where we had the De La Bat School for the Deaf. I remember being fascinated watching people communicate in sign language. There was something so expressive and beautiful about it — perhaps part of the fascination for me as a child was that it felt almost like this language that others understood and I didn't. Do you know ASL at all? I ask only out of curiosity after reading about your own journey with spoken English. And then something else came to mind while reading your words. I recently watched a movie on a flight, and there was a scene that stayed with me. It made me think about how much communication happens when we actually look at one another.
LEVEL 2 - Journaling notes
Worked on Level 2 today—SO GOOD! What really stood out to me is how interconnected the different domains of life are. For example, my time & money freedom feel out of alignment, but I noticed that my vocation plays a big role in that. I was wondering—which domain do you start working on if they both have the same score? I reflected on the question: ‘If I were to improve just one area right now, which would make the biggest difference everywhere else?’ The answer that came was something I think I always knew deep down—but saying it out loud felt so true and freeing. I feel grateful for this new awareness!
🔥 Truth-Teller Tuesday
You know what I think? We've given "being busy" way too much credit. Busy doesn't automatically mean productive. Sometimes it just means... You avoided the one conversation that would've actually changed your life. Ouch. I said what I said. What's the ONE thing you've been avoiding while keeping yourself busy doing everything else? That's probably the thing.

OH ain't that the truth! So busy being busy 😐 that I keep postponing what I know could be that very thing that can help lead to that goal I so would love.
