@Preston Oldfield not at all, they protect against hyperextension. But this is also why keepers tape their fingers and wrists to help protect against it as well. A lot of keepers don't like the reduced movement from finger save gloves. It's sometimes harder to make a fist for punching and the gloves are heavier. To be fair my main injuries have been to my right thumb which isn't protected by the finger saves.

@Preston Oldfield I suppose I'm also thinking about my own situation where I don't play and train several times a week and I have to come to work where I need my hands to work properly so I will be more inclined to protect myself (even though I didn't at last night's football 😂) For kids who are still growing and developing and also training a few times a week and playing games at the weekend, they will naturally strengthen their hands and fingers. The same argument could be made for wearing any protective gear I suppose.
