How Long Did It Take You To Get Your First Sale?
Curious to hear different experiences from people here. I’m still new to POD and learning as I go. Some days it feels exciting, other days it feels like I’m just uploading designs into the void 😂 How long did it take you to get your first sale, and what do you think made the difference?
New to POD, Any Tips for Beginners?
Hey everyone, I’m new here. I want to start with POD and build my first income online. I’ve got about 3 hours a day to work on this. I’m still figuring out my niche, any advice or mistakes to avoid?

@T H Yeah I know exactly the style you mean 👀 honestly the cleanest ones I’ve seen usually aren’t straight out of an app, people tweak them a bit or use curated packs from designers. The modern “frame leaning on wall” style definitely converts well though 🔥

@T H A lot of people tweak them manually in Canva or Photoshop, but honestly I found that having someone who already understands the Etsy/POD aesthetic helps a ton too 👀 The really clean mockups usually have subtle edits that make them feel more premium and less like generic templates. That modern “frame leaning on wall” style definitely performs well when it’s done right 🔥
Trying to Stay Consistent With POD
Still pretty new to POD, but I’m starting to understand that consistency matters more than being perfect. Right now I’m trying to build the habit of designing and learning every day, even if it’s just for a few hours. For those who’ve been doing this longer:What helped you get your first few sales? Was it better designs, better keywords, or just posting more products?

@Camilo Palacio That actually makes a lot of sense. I’ve noticed the same thing too, some best sellers are super simple, which made me realize it’s more about understanding what people already want rather than trying to make the “perfect” design 😂 I like the idea of testing inspired styles and then making variations once something starts getting traction. Right now I think I’ve been overthinking designs instead of focusing more on consistency and SEO. When you were starting out, did you focus on one niche first or were you testing a bunch of different niches at the same time?
Bring it on !
I’m celebrating 🥳 I now have 41 poster designs in my Etsy store. I’m getting there! A long way to go. Making progress again. I love creating art.
Bring it on !

@Damion Elson Yeahhh that’s the kind of nostalgia people instantly connect with 👀 the Walkman/cassette era alone has so much potential. Honestly feels like a niche that could build a loyal audience fast.

@Damion Elson Honestly that’s probably why the art feels authentic 👏 people can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they’re creating, especially with nostalgic stuff like this.
Etsy Videos
Hi, Can anyone advise how to make the little videos of their shops you can put in your listings on etsy? Some showing a few different posters.

@Nicky Pemberton Nice 😄 Canva actually has some pretty decent ones once you dig around a bit.

@Nicky Pemberton Yeahhh that’s definitely doable in Canva 😄 a lot of those smooth zoom/diagonal ones are usually just simple animations + transitions layered nicely. Some people get really creative with it once they learn the workflow a bit 👀
