Recent pet snake painted commission!
I am really happy with the results of this painted Magic card, but I really struggled to recreate the iridescence of the snake skin. Anyone have tips on painting something like that?

Instincts + Influence
Drop one artist that has influenced you, and write one art instinct that you know you have. What we do instinctively and what we are influenced by can often intersect, and this is a good place to start building your artist voice. Being inspired by another artist doesn’t mean that you copy them, it could be the way they handle texture, color, materials, light, or subject. I’ll go first this is a plein air painter Rob Pointon, I like the way he distorts perspective and maintains proportions simultaneously. What instinct I have naturally is being able to work with paint. Wether it’s realistic or impressionistic I can work the paint to now I want it to be

I think an artist that influenced me would be Ai Weiwei, he’s an artist and activist in China and his 100 million porcelain sunflower seeds really stuck with me due to the political commentary. I love when art is used to make controversial or powerful statements and I hope I can do that more myself! I think one of my art instincts is using the materials around me and adapting. I’ve dabbled in a lot of different types of art, and have always been able to find something to use whether it be hot glue and stucks or leftover metal junk!
Digital fan art
This is my first post in this group!! My name is Olivia and I specialize in digital art- specifically character art. I've been drawing a lot of fan art from the game Portal, as it's a huge inspiration to me! I usually struggle with backgrounds, as I'm not the best at making them look "3D." I've been trying to incorporate them into my art more to practice.

Potential Style in the Works??
Hey there! I’ve posted a collection of smaller pieces that I have created over the last 2 years basically, with the two pet portraits being completed within the last week. Ever since leaving high school, I have struggled with creating art and really being involved with any of my other interests. I think I was severely burnt out after high school. I slowly have been trying to recover from the burn out as well as some mental health stuff, but I noticed an increase in productivity when I got into nature journaling at a state park job 2 years back. Since then, I’ve been sketching more and painting small watercolors here and there but nothing major. The two dog portraits you see are the biggest things I have completed in a long while and I am very proud of that. I am hoping this is going a step in the right direction! I mainly use watercolors and the subjects are generally floral and fauna. I love nature and love learning everything relation to one another within it. I’m wondering what patterns y’all see within these pieces and/or something I should try and bring out more/lessen? Let me know if you are interested in seeing my nature journaling sketches too. Maybe there are hidden patterns in those as well I could bring out?

Wow these are stunning! Your use of color is really impressive, I’d love to see your nature works as well!!! Keep it up!
Post your art and questions
I’ll go first, I want my art to give the viewer an experience of an energetic, retro, urban setting. Something where they can hear car horns honking, smell rain on concrete and feel the texture of the city. I’m am open to your suggestions, ideas and feedback

Excited to build a portfolio and nail a personal style! My favorite forms of art are painting clothes and altering MTG cards with acrylic paint!
