Profound motion with Karin Pedersen
I'm very happy to be part of this community with somatic academy. I have been a somatic person in my whole life through movement of all kinds. I look forward to bringing breath work into all that I do. I teach centering and a deep somatic way, I work energetically with people I work through movement and for women I do deep womb work. I've been training my whole life. Look forward to meeting some of you. I was born in Aspen Colorado grew up, partly in Denmark as well.

Hi Karin! I live about 90 minutes from Aspen...In Glenwood Springs...I have only been in this area for a few years....All of the Aspen natives are quite disenchanted with all of the growth and changes in the Roaring Fork Valley... Happy to meet you!

@Lynn Beck I'm sure that you have helped many people! I recently heard Peter Levine (thought of as the father of somatic therapy) say: "trauma cannot be healed without sensations in the body being an aspect of the healing" That is incredibly powerful!

@Terrald Horne You will soon feel "off balance" if your day starts without it!! Wonderful that you are discovering what breathwork can do!!
Tension
I find myself having tension store in my neck and upper back. This practice has been helping to reduce the tension.

@Brian Shrawder I carry tension in the same area...I have to concentrate sometimes to remember to drop my shoulders....Its wonderful that your practice is reducing your tension. I have found that attending to that area more consciously and more frequently has nearly eliminated the problem...As our mentors say...breathe into those muscles and tell them to let it all go!🌬️ 🕊️😊
What it actually means to live somatically...
Today, Steven and I dove deep into the essence of being. Living somatically means recognizing the connection between our body, mind, and heart. So many of us get caught in the rat race of "who we should become", forgetting that the journey is really about "who we already are being". We are born with unique expressions, yet the world often pressures us to fit into molds that don’t reflect our true selves. Our being is always striving for balance and growth. Our body strives for balance, our heart yearns for belonging, and our mind is always pushing to become. When we focus solely on becoming, we miss the beauty of just being. This week, take a moment to reconnect with your essence. Are you allowing yourself to simply be? What’s your experience with this? What really landed with you during this episode? Drop it in the chat and let us know. 💬 If you missed the live click the video below to tune in.

@Jessica Amaya-Jimenez I found your post to be very insightful and rich with self awareness as well ...I, too, have "worked on myself" for years yet never rooted in a fully somatic focus...I'm so grateful to be a part of this program. I recently heard Peter Levine (one of the key pioneers of the somatic movement 30 years ago) say: "Trauma must be healed through sensation"... That was absolutely huge for me ...my world has been based on talk therapy and talk trainings and talk everything out!!! Come to find out ...and it makes total sense...sensations are necessary for healing early life trauma!! Fascinating!
