You Don’t Have to Be an Expert — Just Give Your Dog 10 Minutes 🐾
You do not have to be an expert to train your dog every day! You don’t need fancy skills. You don’t need perfect timing. You don’t need to “know everything.” You just need 10 minutes. Put it in your calendar. Set the intention. Pick one simple thing. That’s it! This video? It’s just Sandy doing basic sit, down, and stand reps. Nothing flashy. Nothing complicated. Just engagement. Just communication. Just us working together. And here’s the thing… Training isn’t just about “getting the behavior.” It’s about: • Building trust • Strengthening your bond • Opening up a clearer line of communication • Giving your dog focused, one-on-one time they absolutely deserve Even if it feels awkward. Even if you’re unsure. Even if you’re thinking, “I don’t really know what I’m doing.” That’s literally what this space is for. You show up. You try. I help guide you. And no matter what you’re working on — simple reps like this, or something from the courses section — if you’re engaging with your dog and having fun, you’re already winning. Schedule the 10 minutes. At the end, you won’t just have a trained behavior. You’ll have a dog who trusts you more… Who looks to you for guidance… And who can’t wait to work with you again. That’s the real goal. 🐾💛

Such great advice. 10 minutes goes a long way.
🐶 Real Talk- Public Access Training 😂
Every time I’m out training a dog in public, people always ask questions. And you’d think it would be the two questions businesses are legally allowed to ask about service dogs: • Is that a service dog? • What tasks do they perform? But nope. Not even close. The #1 question I get — by far — is… 🎤 “Can I pet that dogggg?” 😂🐾 So now I’m curious 👀👇 When you’re out in public with your dog, what are the top 3–5 comments or questions you hear the most? Drop them below — I wanna see if the answers are universal or if you’ve got some interesting ones 😆🐕‍🦺

Riley and I had a great experience recently in HomeGoods. We were training and a little elder lady stopped to watch. The elder lady’s daughter was trying to prompt her mom to move along, but I told them it’s ok to watch and bet it would be good training for my dog to do her skills while others watched. Riley had been doing her skills in public, so this was good level up training for her. The elder lady politely asked me if she could ask some questions and I thanked her for asking so politely, and explained that some service dogs are just learning tasks and can’t be distracted, but Riley is ready to do her skills while others standby and watch. In the past when my dogs were focusing on generalizing their skills in public and some asked to pet them or try and talk to them I would say We’re training right now. Mostly ppl want to know their names, or will making distracting comment like What a Good Girl where I just take that opportunity to reward my pups for refocusing back to me and maintaining eye contact.

@Amanda Taulborg Sorry for the late reply. Life got really busy. Missed your awesome feedback and support.
Mission 3 day 18 - Rex Specs gear w surprise
We got Saffy Rex Specs Ear pro ear protection after the New Years Eve fireworks upset her and so she can safely enjoy music or movies with Dad. She wasn’t liking them so much when not distracted. After a side conversation with @Anissa Stark and @Sherry Smith , I thought about using our Rex Spec goggles without lenses (Thank you @Amanda Taulborg for that tip in an old video) with her ear protection while on an enjoyable walk. The goggles helped keep the ear protection in place when she shook. I think the ear protection is a little big still but she has more growing to do so 🤞🏻. She did really well on the walk and made me SSSOOO proud when we came across a lawn mower. We walked for a tiny bit until I found a spot that was safe and we stopped to watch. She was a rock star checking in with me and then watching and then checking back in, with no fear or nervousness. Of course treats were a big help!! 🥳🤩🎉. When we got in our yard, she got lots of praise and free dog with no gear!

Summer boots/shoes?
Saffy needs some hot weather boots/shoes. 🥵☀️🔥 Wondering what boots you have experience with or recommend. We were thinking vented to help keep her cooler. We are looking at WAGWELLIES® MOJAVE on wagwesr.com They look easy to go on and the higher “ankle” looks like it would help keep them on. Does that high rubber “ankle” cause friction sores or does their fur protect them? Do their feet slide in them if they get wet (rain or sweat)? Are there similar ones we missed? Is a breathable mesh better? Thank you!!😊

@Sherry Smith how much of a savings is the Mystery Sale?
Mission 3 Day 17 Saffy & scary machine
A contractor was using a piece of equipment in the yard that usually scares Saffy. We were out playing and Amanda’s advice of playing during scary moments helps desensitize came to mind. So we carefully threw her ball in the vicinity of the machine, far enough away to be safe but push her scary boundary. She would go get her ball while keeping an eye on the machine, which we were too.
