Hi my names ria its been a journey since diagnosis beginning of 2020. When just casually trying to go antiquing I couldn't make it across the hall without stopping and trying to catch my breathe. Eventually I was talked into going to the er where they attempted to admit me to the icu in cardiac arrest. They said most likely from going undiagnosed hyperactive led to cardiac arrest, I was in a thyroid storm, having mimicked heart attacks that I chalked up to anxiety, pneumonia, graves disease, hashimotos and a thymoma gland tumor in my chest. After months of trying to get me stable enough for surgery in the middle of a pandemic I was able to recieve a total thyroidectomy. A 9 lb thyroid btw. And my antibodies were quadruple what they should be. A good range is 34 i rested at 498. Althought my levels are down they are still doubled. But now I no longer resemble the girl who couldn't catch her breathe antiquing. Graves and hypothyroid has taken my identity. Which has left me alone. Im really reaching out maybe for someone who gets it although id never want anyone to understand. five years later I am finally stable in my thyroid levels but mentally unstable. Tit for tatt.

@Ria Harpster , thank you so much for sharing your story with us. 💙 What you’ve been through is incredibly intense, and the strength it took to get from cardiac arrest and thyroid storm to being stable today is nothing short of inspiring. I can only imagine how heavy it must feel to have your health journey change your identity in so many ways. Please know that you’re not alone here. Many of us(including myself) understand the mental toll that comes even after the physical symptoms stabilize, and this community is a safe place to share that part too. You’ve already taken a powerful step by reaching out. I’d love to hear—what’s been helping you the most lately when it comes to navigating the mental side of things? Sometimes even small wins can be worth celebrating.

🌍 Day 3: Ground for Calm & Clarity
Grounding is as simple as putting your bare feet on the earth—grass, sand, or soil. Science shows this direct contact helps calm the nervous system, lower inflammation, and bring balance back to the body. For those of us with hyperthyroidism, where the body often feels “on overdrive,” grounding can be a powerful reset. 💭 When was the last time your bare feet touched the earth?

@Mette Svendgaard I love that 🌳 Trees are such powerful grounding partners. Reviving that habit sounds like the perfect way to bring more calm into your days—can’t wait to hear how it feels getting back to it! 🥰
