Timing/Schedule Reflection Questions
Here are a few questions to help you think through your timing and schedule: - Go back to your goals and priorities for the event. Does your schedule support them? - What’s the most challenging part of your schedule (dismissal was a common answer on the call today!) and what can you do to improve it? - Which part of a VBS schedule do you think has the biggest impact on the overall experience and why? Does this part of the schedule need more time or intentionality? - What’s your method for keeping things on track/on schedule? Have you communicated this to your team and leads? - Is there any part of your schedule that needs simplifying? (maybe cutting or combining elements?)

Today's call: VBS Programming
We're so excited for our next call today at 2pm ET/12pm MT! We'll be talking all about building a VBS program that works and specifically diving into building out rotations, timing, large group & small group time. Bring your questions/challenges/ideas to share, and we'll see you this afternoon!

Next Step?
We had a great conversation on our Zoom call this afternoon! Thanks to everyone who joined us! Share below: What's one next step you're taking to move forward with your VBS planning after our call today? Could be something specific we talked about or something more general. Let's cheer each other on!
VBS Market Place (Craft Rooms) Schedules
Sharing the PDF's here as well of our rotation schedule and Market Place (craft rooms) Schedule. You will notice on the rotation schedule it says when they go to the Market. The Market Schedule lets them know which market they go to. Both Schedules are in the Leader Handbook and posted in the hallway of the Market Place. It can be tricky to figure out at first, but the volunteers love it! They like that they only have to learn one craft for the whole week and they only have 3 crews of kids per day instead of all 200+ each day.

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing here and on the Zoom call today!
Volunteer Training
Thanks for a great Zoom call today! I want to start the discussion on Volunteer Training. How do you typically facilitate it? We have over 100 volunteers so trying to get them all together seems challenging! In the past it's been a luncheon and slideshow but I want to make it more engaging! Maybe livestream it? An evening instead of a Sunday afternoon? Childcare? Alllll the thoughts! Thanks for sharing!

Yes Jenny thanks for starting this discussion! We host two separate, but identical trainings a few weeks before our VBS. One on Wednesday evening. One on Saturday morning. We share vision, teach the theme song (to get them up and moving), and typically have at least a few of the station leaders share. We go over key points in the VBS volunteer handbook, and also spend time praying for kids and for the week!

Also, I think anytime you can host it at a time when they're already at church, that's a win! And anything you can do to make it easier to attend (like provide childcare), that cuts down on reasons not to come. If you live-stream, you run the risk of people choosing that option over coming in person, so I'd recommend you record it (but don't live-stream it) and then share the recording with those who couldn't make it + do something to follow up with them to make sure they watch it, even if it's something as simple as signing something that says "I watched the VBS training video."
