The Power Of Walking
Walking is one of the very best things you can do as a competitive wrestler. One thing that drives me insane is when coaches say you have to run to lose weight. Now, this can be true in the short term if you are 2 hours from weigh ins to stimulate sweat production, but outside of that time constraint, walking is far the superior. Walking is low intensity cardio thus your body uses fat as the primary fuel source to fuel it. If you are somebody trying to go down weight classes this can be such an ultimate tool. Instead of running four miles you can just walk for 20 minutes after each meal and you have just burned the same amount of calories. Not only that if you walk after you eat it aids and digestion and helps the absorption process in your body. It gets you body used to doing it as well because after weigh ins you will be doing the same. So long story short, walk!
Why I Wrestle
This is not a typical post in here but I just wanted to share this because I got asked this question the other day and it does relate to wrestling performance nutrition directly. I love wrestling and feel in love with it for two reasons. One is you get what you give in terms of hard work. More than almost any other sport the base level of athleticism you need is very low and you can get to the top of the mountain by hard-work alone. Reason number two is there is no one else to blame. Win lose or draw it is entirely in your control. You can’t blame the receive you can only blame the guy in the mirror. You control the outcome! Those things in mind remember we are constantly stacking days into the person we will become. So whether it is wrestling, running, lifting, NUTRTITION, relationships, mentality, or anything else, do it with the sole intention to be the best version of yourself!

Performance help
During practice my muscles are burning so bad that I can’t keep moving like I should but I’m hardly out of breath,I keep pushing through the pain but it hasn’t seemed to get better is there a workout or something that can help?

This is a tough one, could be a large variety of things that cause it. I would start with getting adequate sleep of 8 hours and adequate hydration of body weight time 0.8 in ounces. If it is a conditioning thing it is likely something that should subside if you keep pushing through. Running/lifting wouldn’t be a bad idea to speed up the process.

Importance of Omega 3 Fatty Acid
Omega 3’s are an essential fatty acid that support all kinds of functions in our body. With brain health being amongst the top of the list. Getting this in everyday can be very beneficial over a duration of time. What I recommend: Take a high quality fish oil supplement everyday. Triple strength has probably the best one but it’s pretty hard to go wrong on Amazon. If the budget could handle it, eating some sort of fish or seafood containing it everyday would be ideal. Salmon is my personal facorite.
