🎸 New Free Exercise – 5 Open Chord Fingerstyle Arpeggios
Hey everyone, This week’s new free exercise is now up in the classroom and I’ve gone back to one of my favourite types of fingerstyle practice exercises… arpeggios. For anyone unfamiliar with the term, an arpeggio is when you take the notes of a chord and play them individually instead of strumming them together. They are one of the best ways to improve fingerstyle technique because they help develop: • Fingerpicking accuracy • Right hand coordination • Thumb independence • Smooth chord changes • Timing and rhythm These exercises are based around common open chord progressions, so they’re also great for building confidence moving between chords while keeping a steady fingerpicking pattern. The Easy Version is available now in the classroom tab for free members. There is also a Full Version available for members which adds melody notes into the patterns to make the exercises more musical and help further develop fingerstyle coordination. If you’d like access to this exercise plus my full back catalogue of tabs, exercises, PDFs and Guitar Pro files, you can find everything here. 🎵 Any Gordon Lightfoot fans out there? If so, make sure to check back tomorrow because this week’s new fingerstyle tab is If You Could Read My Mind by Gordon Lightfoot. Both the Full and Easy Versions will be available tomorrow afternoon. Have a great day Jack

Thanks Jack. Good sing
What are we all working on this weekend.
The forecast here calls for rain all day. I was hoping to get out in the garden to get it into shape for summer. So, a good day for some practice. For me: The sound of silence and some Travis picking. https://youtu.be/JqXsooqnwFc?si=zJLW6-VPmFLrSLSf 0:47

Don't Stop Me Now – Fingerstyle Tab of the Week
Hey everyone, This week’s Tab of the Week is Don't Stop Me Now by Queen. You’ll find both the Full and Easy versions available now in the Classroom tab. As always, this week’s tab is only available for a limited time, so make sure you download your copy while it’s there. New Course Videos Added Many of you joined the group after picking up my Fingerstyle Guitar Starter Kit and beginner courses — thank you. (This my collection of beginner fingerstyle materials - you can get a copy here) I’ve now started uploading the exercise videos that go alongside those courses, so you can follow the lessons step by step inside the group. The Beginner Travis Picking Course is now live in the Classroom tab. If you’ve ever been curious about one of my courses but weren’t quite sure what was included, this gives you the chance to see exactly what you’ll be learning before you buy. I’m planning to upload more course content throughout the week, so keep an eye out for updates. Have a great week, Jack

New fingerstyle wannabee
Hi All, Great to meet the group. I first picked up a guitar when I retired 4 years ago. A year or two into I began to mix it up with strumming and Travis picking. As time passed I became more and more focused on fingerstyle / fingerpicking, Travis Picking especially. I’m hoping to share experiences here with you all. —Mike
