Today, I kicked off the first leg of a media blitz for a few upcoming keynotes. At one point, my oldest daughter looked at me and said, “I’m glad I don’t have to do that for a living… that’s a lot of talking.” I laughed… but then it hit me. We may not all speak for a living— but we all communicate to live. And the truth is… 👉🏾 If you want healthier relationships — communicate better. 👉🏾If you want career growth — communicate better. 👉🏾If you want greater influence and impact — communicate better. Your words are either opening doors… or closing them. Getting better in the world starts with getting better with your words. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬ 9 years ago today wasn’t my best day. In fact, it was one of the worst days of my life. I found myself in a jail cell. My wife and two kids were at home. I’d made a mistake too large to overlook. Then I did the crazy thing. I reported myself. Often I’ve asked myself if I should have remained quiet. Should I have allowed the system to sort it out? But, of many things, God calls us to live with integrity. So I chose to do that. It hasn’t been easy…coming back from that. It has been a massive trial to my character to press on, but on days like today, I’m reminded of what God can do. Even when I maybe deserve to be “put to death” (figuratively/eternally) God has delivered me from so much more. As I reflect on the day, I’m reminded of the miracles God has done in my life. As I continue to die to myself, I continue to find the greater meaning and mysteries of this life. Friend, what challenges are you going through? Have hope today in Jesus. Your savior.
