SOTD - ATH Loki
Had to give this one a spin. This was my highly successful failure buy from yesterday, ended my 2 week no buy streak. What makes this one special it is the pre-form release. I was able to go get it locally and price was ridiculously in my favor.

Awesome! Yesterday, I picked up a BNIB Supernova (I have a 10ml) for a crazy price!

@Lon Chaneyfield Definitely, it is what Aventus should have been.
(Series Intro) - Welcome to the “Who Is Perfumer” Series!
Hey Guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya’, and today, I’m kicking off a brand-new series that might just change how you look at your entire fragrance collection! We spend so much time talking about bottles, notes, performance and hype… but how often do we stop and ask, “Okay, but who actually created this?” Behind every legendary scent is a creative mind, a perfumer with their own story, philosophy, inspirations, failures, victories and quirks. And honestly? Once you learn about the people crafting these olfactory worlds, the fragrances themselves take on a whole new meaning. That’s exactly what this series is here to explore. In “Who Is Perfumer”, we’re diving straight into the human side of perfumery: the careers, the backgrounds, the training, the passions, the signature styles each perfumer brings to the table. We’ll look at their early influences, the houses they’ve shaped, the iconic scents they’ve given life to and maybe even the surprising detours along the way. Some names you’ll know immediately. Others you may have worn for years without ever realizing they were the nose behind your favorite signature scent. My goal is to peel back the curtain and show you the artisans whose fingerprints are on the fragrances we love. More than anything, this series is about connection, like connecting the scent to the storyteller. When you know who crafted a fragrance, when you understand their vision and their journey, the scent hits just a little differently. It becomes more than a bottle on your shelf; it becomes part of someone’s creative legacy. So buckle up, guys, we’re shining a spotlight on the perfumers themselves, the unsung heroes of this hobby. Can’t wait to explore these incredible creators with you. What say you, Guys? Do you feel a series like this would be beneficial? Do discussions of perfumers and their stories aid you in your fragrance #Journey? Or is good ol’ Joe A. off his rocker again? Love to hear from ya’!

SOTD: Genre Parfums - When in Puerto Rico
This one came in today and after the gym felt like the perfect time to get it on skin. Genre Parfums When in Puerto Rico was released in a single, highly limited batch in 2024 and has never been restocked. It opens with a burst of juicy pineapple and creamy coconut, laced with salty ocean air and a subtle hint of tobacco that appears quietly in the heart and dry-down, like the gentle scent of cured leaves in the warm evening breeze. That understated tobacco touch lends a refined warmth without ever dominating or taking away from the tropical vibe. Unisex, radiant upon opening, and pure vacation in a bottle, it’s a fragrance that’s going to shine in the heat. Like Virgin Island Water, however, performance is somewhat limited. I get moderate projection for the first few hours, then a nice skin scent that wafts in the air afterwards. It is an extrait, so it will linger on skin, but I do wish it lasted a bit longer up top. The original drop sold out through a handful of small retailers for $50 for 50ml (pre-orders shipped around mid-July 2024) and has stayed gone ever since. Bottles now only surface occasionally on the secondhand market, and what was never an expensive bottle retail now pops up at a slight markup. I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and had passed on one a few months ago before finally picking this up last week. This scent is paradise with a slightly sophisticated twist. I wouldn’t say you need to chase a bottle, but if you enjoy this scent profile, it’s worth snagging at or just above original retail if you come across one.
