FRIDAY WINS 🏆 & VIDEO FEEDBACK 🎬
Let’s hear what went well this week. Big or small, it all counts. Anything related to your video work. Some ideas: - Finished a video - Landed a client - Upgraded gear - Tried something new - Improved something you’ve been working on Drop your win below. Always good to see what people are building. VIDEO FEEDBACK 🎬 Trying something new here. If you’re working on a real video and want feedback, send me a DM with a link. I’m going to pick one or two submissions and do a full breakdown for the community. So if you submit, just know this won’t be a private critique, it’ll be something I walk through and share so everyone can learn from it. You can send: - A rough cut - A finished video - A short section you’re unsure about If there’s something specific you want me to focus on, let me know when you send it.

@Rithvik M That’s solid, sounds like you’re actually putting in the reps both on editing and life stuff. 😁 Hope you take that win too, keep going either way.

@David Mason That’s a big one. Working through client feedback and getting something across the finish line is where you really start to level up. Honestly, you’ll learn more from a couple real projects like that than months of tutorials. Keep putting yourself in those situations.
🎬 Editing Breakdown: What I’d Fix In This Intro
I’m going to start to do more breakdowns inside the community. The goal of these posts isn’t just learning the software. But it’s learning how to make better videos overall. That includes editing, storytelling, pacing, lighting, and the full video process. In this simple breakdown, I walk through an intro from one of my recent videos and talk about: - pacing - structure - editing choices - what I’d improve next time Drop your critiques in the comments below 👇

Waking Life
I'm curious, first of all, if anybody else here has seen this movie. Came out in 2001, written and directed by Richard Linklater ("Slacker, "Dazed and Confused.) It's a deeply philosophical movie about dreams and reality. What made it work was that the entire movie is presented in rotoscoped animation, with each scene animated by a different artist using custom software by Bob Sabiston. It gives the movie a surreal, dream-like vibe. (Original trailer here.) I've loved it since I first saw it back in 2001. I hadn't watched it in many years (pre pandemic, I'm pretty sure), but have been watching it again over the past few days. I still really enjoy it. I'm bringing it up here because I'm curious: Could you today do exactly this style of animation entirely in Fusion?

I watched the video, and I'm sure you can do a similar effect in Fusion, but I don't know exactly how. 😆

@Benjamin Lanin Nice!
How to get rid of some white on a dark shirt?
I had a small piece of a white tissue or something on my shirt when recording. I don't want to rerecord, but I'm having a hard time finding the best way of changing that white into the same color as my shirt. There are many tutorials on YouTube, but they don't seem to help with this specific issue. What would be the fastest way of doing this?

@Marcin Hakemer-Fernandez How did this work for you? I watched the video and learned a few things. I've never used the the paint tool to clone, so that looks fun.
📅 Mar 16th - MONDAY CHECK-IN 👋
Hey everyone, happy Monday. Just wanted to check in and say welcome to the new members who joined recently. Glad you're here. @Sikho Qangani @Jessa Stebbins @Fernando Nogueira @David Hubbard @Parker Humpherys @Mohammed Jaafar @Ariunbileg Alirz @James Rai @Sonia Ramsey If you're new here (or even if you're not), this community is basically a place for creators who want to get better at editing, learn DaVinci Resolve, and improve the videos they're making. A lot of the value here comes from people actually sharing what they’re working on and asking questions. So if you’ve been lurking for a bit, this is a good week to jump in. A few simple things you could post: • A video you’re currently editing • A timeline or workflow question • Something you’re stuck on in Resolve • A small win from a project you finished • A clip you want feedback on Even small posts usually lead to good conversations and learning. And if you’re brand new, feel free to introduce yourself and share: • What kind of videos you make • What you're currently trying to improve Looking forward to seeing what everyone’s working on this week. 👊
