🥳 FRIDAY - BROTHERHOOD WINS
✅ Scott and I started our daily standup with wins this week - and it shifted everything. For a few weeks we were following the "get right to work" format. There's something about beginning with what's working that changes the energy of everything that follows. It's not toxic positivity - it's strategic neuroscience. 🙋🏻‍♂️ My Win: Invited an investing partner (executive coach, big player in startup space) over for dinner - and he said yes. In the past, I would have shrunk, avoided, then beat myself up and maybe tried again with needy energy. None of that was present. He gave me solid pointers, appreciated me on many levels, and invited me to his place. Due to the consistent brotherhood in my life and the work in this classroom, I can find wins every day. >> Here's why starting with wins rewires your brain<< - ⬆️ Cortisol naturally peaks 30-45 minutes after waking - pairing this with positive inputs amplifies energy instead of stress - 🤺 Completing small positive tasks triggers dopamine - your brain's reward chemical that sharpens focus and builds momentum - so GET YOUR ASS MOVING - even if its going for a 20 minute walk immediately after waking - 📟 Barbara Fredrickson's research shows positive emotions broaden perspective and build long-term skills through an "upward spiral" The Enemy Within is right there at the beginning of each day, waiting to take us out. Starting with wins does three things: 🫂 hijacks the cortisol spike for energy instead of anxiety 🌮 creates dopamine momentum for the day ahead and 🧬 trains your brain to notice what you're building instead of battling. Drop your wins below - big or small: - Conversations you finally had - Boundaries you set - Risks you took - Habits you built - Battles you won (internal or external) - Moments you showed up as the man you're becoming - decisions you made that paid off in some way Brotherhood is built on celebration, not just struggle. 👉 Drop your win. 🏅Champion another brother's win.

@Scott Dozier I figured out how to change my name on here so it's now accurate. Does that count as a win? 😆

Yeah! Crushed it at the gym today, and started taking some real steps to being responsible for and owning my physical health again. I also had a few good days of getting out and living my life which is huge. Since getting injured it's been too easy to stay at home and get into isolation. But a few days ago I got out and explored my town, had lunch at a new place, and had an awesome creative session. Yesterday I went out to lunch with my best friend for their birthday, and went to a game night birthday party. I was kinda worried I'd be overwhelmed in a group of people but it was actually a lot of fun. It was fun to see these people again, and bond with a great group of people. It's interesting being the only straight cis dude in a group of queer and trans people, and to be seen as genuine and non-threatening. I feel like a good mark of healthy masculinity is to be able to provide safe container and space for everyone around you, especially when they aren't necessarily used to that being the case.
🔥 **LIVE CIRCLE GUIDELINES - SACRED CONTAINER**
MEN'S GROUP GUIDELINES BASED ON DECADES OF RESEARCH AND APPLICATION Guys - Keep these in your mind and hearts. They'll help all of us maintain a supportive and powerful container for all of our live events and circles. 1. I agree to be punctual in attendance and my communication. 2. I agree to confidentiality - I will not disclose anything from this group to anyone outside of this group and I will share my own experience only. I agree to use my first name only and not use anyone else's name.  3. I respect the opportunity for equal air time - I understand that I need to allow “space” for other participants to share.  4. I agree with a Non-judgmental atmosphere - when we judge, people are not safe to openly share.  5. I agree to actively respect myself and others - We are all adult men, and human beings and we all deserve to be treated with respect no matter what we have or have not done. 6. Everyone is responsible for their own learning and participation - we all learn at different speeds and it's our own journey.  7. I agree to use “I statements' ' - I statements help to take responsibility for our conversations and also stop us from projecting or generalizing.  8. I will not take any elicit, altering substances before or during the group - this will be enforced with no exceptions.  9. I agree to be responsible for myself - I will ask for help if and when I need it. We are not here to care-take or parent  10. I agree to not give advice, try to fix problems, or tell anyone what to do. I will share from my own experience.  11. I agree to stay until the end of the group.  12. I agree to not use my phone until we close the group.

Love it. 9 and 10 are some areas I definitely have struggled with in the past. Struggling to ask for help is a big one for me, and I have (hopefully) outgrown my "helping people fix shit" phase, haha. The last live call was really good for me. Thanks for creating and holding that space!
Working with the heart center
Hi, All Just wanted to pose a general question or conversation for the group here. Lately I've been doing a lot of work with and around my heart center. I've been experiencing some pretty interesting shifts, and just wanted to ask you guys about your personal experiences (if any) you've had working with your heart center, heart chakra, etc. What's your personal experience / do you have any experience working through or with the chakra system, or different energy centers? What are some shifts or changes you experienced or went through during that time? Were there any specific challenges that came up for you?

Thank you both for your thoughtful replies! @Scott Dozier I appreciate what you said about your ego - that's something I can definitely relate to. My ego wants me to stay in familiar territory, and continue to interject itself in most circumstances, and this work is no different. I love what you said about things not needing to make sense. I feel like coming to that understanding is imperative in this work, especially when learning to surrender. @Aaron Moon Cantwell I love what you said about the tantric tumo. I haven't practiced that for a long time, personally, and I kind of forget that it's in my toolbox. The teacher where I picked it up saidd that monks would do that breathing in the freezing snow, and generate so much heat they were able to melt the snow around them just from breathing. And that image always stuck with me in terms of melting through the layers of ice around one's heart. Reading you describe how it broke through your barriers in a very real way, healing wounds and everything- that's powerful stuff. I'm absolutely looking forward to being able to learn and experience it on a deeper level. As for the changes I've been experiencing, it's almost like I'm becoming the version of myself I've always sort of wanted to be. One of the first things I noticed is that I’m moving with more intention and being more deliberate in my choices. I’ve found myself acting and speaking with more intention, and I’m naturally becoming more patient, kind, and understanding. Acting from a place of love for the world and the people around me is something that hasn’t always come easy, but it’s almost like my whole being is re-calibrating to that frequency. I've also started feeling lonely, and actually noticed that I *want* connection with other people. It's weird, because most of my life I've viewed myself as a loner, and kind of taken pride in my ability to sit comfortably with myself and my own thoughts. But lately I've noticed that I'd rather go on a hike with a buddy, than go alone. And I'm feeling the same way about a lot of things.

@Aaron Moon Cantwell That's definitely a big question for me right now. It's really interesting to see how this is affecting self-image, etc. Looking forward to diving in!

@Robert Olivieri "Staying conscious and deliberate with the things i'm putting out into the world" - That's a powerful intention, especially in today's world where everything wants to get us swept up in negativity and negative emotions. I appreciate this reminder today, I think I saw it exactly when I needed to.
