Software engineering and the T-Shape Learning Model 🎯
Programming offers endless opportunities: frontend, backend, mobile, AI, and more. But how you learn and grow can differ greatly. Some go deep into a topic, mastering its core complexities. Others explore broadly, connecting dots across various technologies. Both paths are valuable, and the T-Shape Learning Model helps balance them. Depth (Vertical Bar): Great for starting out, depth builds expertise in a specific field, like mastering React hooks or state management in frontend or databases, frameworks in backend. With deep knowledge, learning something new later becomes much faster. up to 10x easier. Breadth (Horizontal Bar): Ideal for technical managers or senior roles, breadth lets you see the big picture, plan projects, and know what is needed across systems. This enables you to build entire projects or hire the right team. Why Both Matter: > Depth solves complex challenges and sets a strong foundation. > Breadth ensures collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to lead or manage effectively. Start with depth, then broaden your skills as you grow. Questions for You: Are you focusing on depth or breadth in your journey? How do you balance them? Let’s discuss below! 👇

I Got rejected after an interview. How can I use It? 🤔
A well-crafted and company-tailored resume significantly increases your chances of landing an interview. However, rejections are inevitable. So, how can you make the most out of them? In Canada and the US, it’s a good practice to ask for feedback after an interview. It’s always a thoughtful gesture to send an email thanking the interviewer for their time and politely asking for feedback about why you weren’t the right candidate. An interview itself can be an excellent source of feedback. You can also observe how the interviewer reacts to your answers — this is a valuable source of insight as well. Do you ask for feedback from employers after being rejected? If so, what have you learned?

Why Do I Need to Participate in a Community? 👥
Engaging with a professional community is a powerful tool for growth. But why exactly? Let’s break it down. > Feedback as Your Compass 🧭 Hearing questions, feedback, or success stories from others helps you build mental modal of current IT reality. It helps you understand the current IT market and prioritize what’s truly important to learn. > Plan vs. Chaos 🎯 Learning without feedback or a clear plan is like wandering through a forest at night. Plans can fail — and that’s okay. You can always adjust them. The key is to avoid going in circles and test your hypotheses as you move forward. > Guides Shorten the Journey With mentors, guides, and a supportive community with real feedback, your path becomes shorter and more efficient. Feedback helps you identify mistakes faster and improve along the way. Questions for You: 1. Do you create your learning plan yourself, or do you prefer to follow a ready-made one? 2. How often do you share what you’re working on with others? Let’s discuss! Share your thoughts in the comments below 👇

Why Learn Anything When AI Exists? 🤔
Learning is like lifting heavy weights in a gym 🏋️‍♂️ If you can lifting heavy, carrying groceries to your car, lifting a girl for a romantic moment, or any physical task becomes effortless 💪 Solving problems or leetcode tasks without AI is like training with weights Even though AI allows us to solve tasks quickly and efficiently, learning to tackle challenges on your own builds resilience and mental model for future similar tasks When you know how to complete a task without AI, it becomes much easier to: - Solve it in the future, even faster - Identify and fix mistakes when AI (e.g., tools like Cursor) makes an error Questions for you: 1. Do you think AI should be used in learning? 2. Do you use AI in your work or studies? How has it impacted you? Feel free to share your thoughts below! ⬇️

I'm Anatoliy Babin - Tech Mentor
Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Software developer with over 10 years in IT. I love Startups, Frontend, education, and helping others grow. My journey began as Engineer in new country at the age of 19 years in 2014. It was challenging and painful, but I hope my knowledge can help simplify the process and support people who are immigrating to new countries. Now I'm working as Lead Frontend developer in US company Lilo AI (lilohotelsupplies.com) I worked in Yandex, X5, Alfa bank and startups After immigrating to Canada 🇨🇦, I started working as a startup consultant, helping to assemble tech teams and contribute to coding in Calgary startup community. A bit about me I became VP of frontend department even before earning my B.Sc. degree Over three years, my team and I have built and launched more than 10 projects, including a food delivery platform similar to Uber Eats in 2020 🚀 It was a significant success but also led to burnout 🧯. Since then, I’ve made it a rule to rest every Sunday and spend Saturdays meeting with friends. I’m especially proud of the developers who grew from juniors to Tech Leads and seniors while working together on challenging tasks. About me: I love Cycling, Playing tennis, Rhythmic games like Beat Saber and signing 🎶🚴‍♂️🎾 As a Tech Mentor, I’m more than happy to share my knowledge and expertise while continuing to learn from all of you! 🚀
