Ben Affleck on AI and the Future of Filmmaking
🎬 “And the Oracle Speaks!” 🔮 Ben Affleck recently shared his thoughts on CNBC on AI and Hollywood’s future and it's causing a bit of a stir, because obviously being Batman qualifies you as an expert in industry economics. (Next up, Tom Cruise unpacks quantum physics, and Jennifer Lawrence takes on climate change. 🤷‍♂️) On a serious note, while his perspective has some interesting points, it also oversimplifies a lot about AI and filmmaking—topics best left to experts who’ve studied this stuff in depth. I shared my thoughts in this Twitter thread: https://x.com/aiography_ai/status/1858617710147494308. Let’s not take every celebrity soundbite as gospel, but hey, it’s a good conversation starter! I’d love to hear your take on this in the comments. 👇

Nah, VFX isnt in trouble. Sure teams will get smaller - they've been getting smaller in all departments...for years. VFX teams are always the bastard children in the pipeline. No one understands it. They hire us last minute. And in most cases under estimate how much of their garbage we clean up or completely rebuild. But if you've tried to make any decent quality product with AI, you know that VFX/Post Production is a required skill set. Without it you cant control or use these tools at their most creative capacity. This will be true until the ai workflows being developed now are automated. Which will take a few more years...because humans have to figure it out first. But by then, I'd imagine its the VFX cogs (who are already replacing on set crews and actors with AI btw) that will be ready for the next thing.
Who's enjoying being back in Skool?
Found the Skool community few months back now and this is a social media that I like, social learning. Haven't made too many videos lately, I did get myself up to little over 1000 subscribers on my Wildlife page, you'll see the stoat hunting the rabbit as my most popular and I used to film my dogs skills with a football and put that to music. And for my pressure washing business I put together a compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKVJRId29Jc&t Now with Ai Ill start playing and see where it takes me, look forward to hearing about you all and learning new skills. Im just outside Hereford in the UK, in a hamlet with no shops or pub but lots of wildlife and nature.

Excited to see more AI filmmakers
Heya, I'm Amber. I’ve been a freelance editor for about 15 years, mostly in music video and promo work in Nashville, TN. Mid-COVID, my partner and I shifted back into narrative filmmaking. Trying to avoid the usual LA/NY/ATL/NOla journey. We've been dabbling in animation, and trying to figure out how AI can be used to enhance the visual experience. We are developing proof-of-concept ideas at www.ohheyvoid.com. Our most recent project was a proof of concept trailer here: https://youtu.be/0bofS4lHBCo?si=vP5joE9J8bHUlqHq We use AI tools for previs, voice effects, b-roll, sound, and some mocap in our workflow. The last 6 months we've been learning UE5 for the animation process. And have been dabbling with Stable diffusion style transfers since '22. It’s been a huge learning journey, and I'm excited to connect with others in AI filmmaking. Always happy to share and learn from like minded creatives. If you have any AI film projects online - I'd love to support them. Excited to see what yall are creating.

@Lawrence Jordan thanks for the kind welcome and leading the way here. Thanks for checking out the site and subbing. We use fourthwall and carrd for the site - super easy tools. Happy to answer any questions.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together 😉
Hi all, I am very excited to join this group. I work as a video editor specialised in trailers for more than 2 decades. Also I love Color Grading and past couple of years I am working towards transitioning to a be full time freelancer and perhaps creating my own post production agency offering video editing and color grading services. My first touch with Ai was a year ago, through one of my regular color trainings, when I was introduced to Midjourney and few other ai tools for creating a short ad and learned how to blend ai created images with stock or real footage, using color grading techniques. I want to be "on" the wave of Ai and not "under" it and express my creativity while keep providing for my family! So far in my career I have received enormous amount of help from others and I strongly believe in the power of the community, helping others, sharing knowledge and giving back. I hope to receive the same from this community and have a positive impact myself. I would love to connect and I'll try to keep up with the group and be helpful in any way! Feel free to dm me privately anytime and if you please have a look at my link.tree or connect in Linkedin and ,why not, discuss your next project! Best, Yannis Stergioulis
