I am sooo sorry. I just realized it was tonight. I came too late.
Your First Step: What Every Parent MUST Know About the IEP Process
Let’s be honest—most parents walk into the IEP process feeling confused, intimidated, or worried they’ll say the wrong thing. You’re told to “trust the system,” but no one hands you a roadmap. If you’ve ever left a meeting thinking, “Did I advocate for my child the right way?”—you’re not alone. Every parent in this community has felt exactly that. Here’s the truth: when you understand how the IEP process really works, everything changes. You start walking into meetings with clarity instead of fear you learn what to ask, what to expect, what’s legally required, and what your child truly has the right to receive. And suddenly… - The school starts listening. - Your child’s services become clearer. - You stop guessing and start winning at the table. This community was built to help you get to that place of confidence—quickly and with support. Here’s what you need to do next:👉 Comment below your biggest IEP struggle right now👉 Tell us your child’s top need or goal👉 Then, go to the “Start Here” section and watch the first training We’ll walk you through every step—together you’re no longer navigating this alone. You’re equipped, supported, and ready.Welcome to a new chapter of advocacy. 💛

I am not really sure how to approach another IEP meetings. My daughter has ADHD and a learning disability and will be eventually evaluated for autism. My daughter does virtual school with the public school district. They have her in extra help for math and reading but the amount of time she spends with math and reading is about 75 minutes daily for each subject as she is required according to the school to be in general ed class for math and reading as well as extra help. My daughter has been struggling lately with feeling overwhelmed with school duties and the demand and required amount of time she needs to focus is just not sustainable. I am not sure when to call a meeting because I want to make sure I understand what accomodations she could get to help her not be so overwhelmed in school and also giving her the proper amount of time to provide an answer to the teacher without rushing her and getting more than 3 minute breaks. I just don't even know where to start. I don't think goals will help her as far as I know she has one goal to meet reading and math expectations but what about accomodations? Everytime I mention something about her being overwhelmed it goes on deaf ears and they don't prioritize or think it's necessary. I am afraid to go into a meeting not knowing what I am talking about and not being able to stand my ground. Also the teacher emailed me a concern about my daughter that her grades are falling and seems she is more distracted when in all reality she pays attention but the required amount of time to focus is too much and the teacher tells them to lean into the computer "if you are not looking at me then you are not paying attention". Sorry this is alot but I am lost.
