Recipe Tuesday 🄧
You already know what’s coming up toward the end of the month—our Sugar Detox Challenge. Because so many depend on sugar, I think it’s worth talking about it now. Even if you aren’t much of a sweets eater, the reality is that many foods have hidden sugars—and you may not even realize your dependency on them. 😳 Tuesdays are our recipe days, and throughout the month, I’ll give you some sweet recipe ideas that call for natural sweeteners instead of ultra-processed sugar. What you’re going to find is that you crave what you feed. By slowly replacing processed sugar with natural sweeteners, your physical cravings for processed sugars will subside—and by the time our Sugar Detox Challenge begins, you’ll be more than ready to crush it! šŸ‘ This sweet treat calls for coconut sugar, which is a less refined sugar. It’s a good starting place if you’re ready to start making some healthier swaps this week! It’s also the perfect Fall treat! 🄧 Healthy Gluten-Free Apple Crisp - Cookie and Kate *personally I would use dairy free butter and coconut yogurt** TAKING ACTION: āœ… If you plan on participating in the Sugar Detox Challenge, will you slowly begin eliminating now or go cold turkey when the time comes? Share with us below!

Resist the Candy Bowl!
Yesterday, we briefly discussed the upcoming holiday season, because whether you’ve accepted it or not, it’s here. And although Halloween is several weeks away, the stores are already filling their shelves with Halloween candy—and that means the temptations are already there. Can I get an ā€œAmenā€?! šŸ‘Œ No need to worry, though—because we have a great plan to help you navigate the upcoming few months! ā¬‡ļø šŸ‘‰We’re also going to have a Sugar Detox Challenge toward the end of the month that’ll help you reset your cravings, which in turn will help you resist the candy bowl. You know I’m all about equipping you with all the education and tools to navigate any season, so you can expect to have everything you need to approach the upcoming season. All I ask is that you show up and lean into it. It’s going to be a GREAT month! šŸ”„ TAKING ACTION: āœ… Drop your favorite Halloween emoji if you’re ready for our October education! We will also be touching on breast cancer and prevention!! What are you most excited about?

We Celebrate Everything with Food!
Happy Sunday, friends. You’ve made it another week! 🫶 At the end of the week, we often feel the need to reward ourselves. I’m not opposed to that strategy because external reward is sometimes the thing we need to keep going; however, as a Western culture especially, we are so used to "rewarding" ourselves with food. šŸ½ Plans with friends? Let's eat. šŸ½ Birthday? Let's eat. šŸ½ Holiday? Let’s eat. šŸ½ Lost 5 lbs? Let’s eat. You see where I’m going with this, don’t you? We have viewed food as an idol for far too long—as a celebratory event when, in fact, the only reason food was put here in the first place was to fuel our bodies and keep us alive. That's it. There's certainly nothing wrong with enjoying our meals sometimes, but we also need to keep our desire for food in its appropriate place. šŸ’Æ This doesn’t happen overnight, and that’s why you have to keep going. You can’t give up on WHO YOU WANT TO BE for what feels good at the moment… If you’re used to rewarding yourself with food, it’s time to look into other ways to treat yourself. Reward yourself with a much-needed yoga session, massage, or pedicure. When we can reward ourselves in other ways that do not involve food, that is another small win in our journeys. I will continue to say it—everything doesn't have to happen at once. Small wins + small wins + small wins = BIG RESULTS OVER TIME. šŸ™Œ www.developgoodhabits.com/reward-without-food/ TAKING ACTION: āœ… Have you noticed this trend—where we celebrate everything with food? How has that affected your journey?

It’s so true! I am guilty of that while reading this! Time to switch it up
šŸŽ‰ Friday wins!! šŸŽ‰
Do you ever feel like you don’t have anything worth celebrating? If so, I see you—and you aren’t alone. We recently touched on the fact that humans are wired with a strong negativity bias. This is because our ancestors paid more attention to threats and dangers rather than pleasure. Additionally, the negative events are where we learn our deepest lessons. There are good reasons why we focus on the negative. With that said, it’s not healthy or productive to always focus on the negative. That sounds depressing, huh? Oftentimes, we must retrain our brains to focus on the positive. This takes commitment, awareness, and intentionality—and that is exactly the reason we set aside Fridays to focus on the positive! Oftentimes, we don’t take the time to celebrate ourselves when we’re navigating this journey alone, and that’s why we program in celebrating at least once per week. The goal is to help you focus on the positive on a consistent basis. šŸ’Æ Even if you initially feel like you don’t have anything worth celebrating, I’m certain that when you take some time to think about it, you’ll discover that simply isn’t true. Remember, positive thinking requires awareness and intentionality. So, without further ado, let’s focus on the positive and find your win because it’s worthy of celebration! šŸŽ‰ TAKING ACTION: āœ… Take a moment to find something worthy of sharing today, friends, and let’s celebrate your weekly wins! šŸŽ‰

Put an offer on a house wed last week and they accepted. (Private sale) but we’re delivering the official legalized offer on Monday! Got a smoking good deal in a small town, Newly Reno’d, huge yard. It was a blessing that popped up online last week! I’m so excited for this next chapter

Thanksgiving is next weekend for us so I’m so ready. I’m not much of a sugar person. I do enjoy the odd treat but I know I’ll need to restart my routine quickly but I love the food šŸ˜‚ also want to get into a new habit or tweak my routine before after we move into our new house next month so that excites me so much!
