Prepayment Meters
Hi all. I was moved to Octopus energy when my old supplier supposed went bump. This was three years ago and I haven't acknowledged any correspondence from them. Last week they remotely changed my meter to a prepayment meters. They are now adding over 9k alleged "debt" to these meters. Is there anything I can do or is it too late and it's a done deal?

@Lindsay Goodwin basically if they don't reply in full to your first SAR within the 1 month period then send them SAR2, which is an escalation 👍

@Lindsay Goodwin Keep going with the complaints team and I'd also send an email to Greg Jackson, the CEO - [email protected] - since I've been doing this (and copying him in on every email contact I have with his braindead employees) they've been jumping through hoops, and funnily enough digging even bigger holes for themselves 😂 Let Greg know that his complaints team are ignoring you
The judgement has come through
Judgement has come from and my appeal on costs failed as it stated they were awarded costs contractually. Be warned if going to court it landed me with ÂĢ23k bill

@Joshua Davenhill might be worth considering printing these out and taking them into court as a 'just in case' if they're lying about their existence!
ICO INVESTIGATION BLAH BLAH BLAH
Depending on the circumstances, we will decide whether or not to take action against the organisation and what form our action will take. We do this by taking an overview of all concerns that are raised about that organisation with a view to improving their compliance with the data protection framework. Our decision will not affect your ability to enforce your rights through the courts. Your complaint My understanding is you are concerned you did not receive the information you requested in your subject access request (SAR).Please note that when you submit a subject access request (SAR), you are only entitled to receive copies of your own personal data. The data protection legislation considers personal data to be data that identifies you as a person. We have more information on what is personal data on our website, although this is aimed at organisations you may find this useful. Therefore, when you submit a SAR you are not necessarily entitled to receive copies of full documents. Rather, you are entitled to receive copies of your personal data contained within the documents held.Although the UK GDPR gives an individual the right to make a request to an organisation for copies of the information that is held about them, it does not require an organisation to provide copies of an original document, such as a deed and notice of assignment.I note that you wish for a copy of the deed of assignment as part of your SAR but please be aware that CF are unlikely to supply this document. This is because it does not identify you (either directly or indirectly) and so would not be considered your personal data under the UK GDPR. However, you will be informed of the passing on of your debt by the original lender as covered in the terms and conditions of your contract. If you feel the debt was not owed to the original lender then you should raise this with them directly who will then confirm this to CF. It is the responsibility of the organisation to ensure that they have appropriate security measures in place to protect the personal data they hold. This is likely to differ depending on the type of request or issue being dealt with. The UK GDPR does not define the security measures that organisations should have in place and we cannot provide a complete guide to all aspects of security in all circumstances.

"This is because it does not identify you (either directly or indirectly) and so would not be considered your personal data under the UK GDPR." This is the bit that they all quote and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!! If you are not identified either directly or indirectly then how the fkn hell has 'your alleged debt' been identified as being yours!! Makes my head want to explode!
Octopus Energy Onslaught
I've received notice from Octopus Energy that they are passing my 'debt' to a collection agency, probably Haste. I'm going to DSAR them at their head office address to start fighting back as I've previously gone down the route of non-engagement. If they apply for a RoE Warrant I'll challenge that too. Has anyone else been in this position?

@Martyn Lee have you opened up a complaint with Octoplasm? This has added extra weight to my ongoing disagreement with them (almost 3 years now). Getting a complaint number should suspend the dunning process (the debt collection process), they aren't allowed to send DCA's while a complaint is open. Then another tactic that is currently working for me is to send an email to Greg Jackson, the current CEO, who actually says on their complaint page that he welcomes contact and that either he or one of his managers will get in touch - [email protected] - since I've been copying Greg in on everything there has been a flurry of activity among the brain dead Octoplasm employees who, with every contact they make, actually add to my claim against them - it's brought a bit of much needed fun into proceedings 😁

@J P that's a really strong response. Just one thing, was the 'Authority to Enter' actually signed or was it blank? The bot reply suggests it was signed?
