Why Dating Apps Don’t Work (And What You Should Do Instead)
I don’t even need to look at the stats to know the effort/reward ratio on any and all dating apps is pitifully low. In other words, dating apps do not work. It’s simple logic: dating apps are businesses. That means, their primary motive is profit. And if they actually delivered on the promise they make – i.e. to help you find a long-term partner – they would (say it with me now) GO OUT OF BUSINESS! There’s only one way for a subscription-based dating app to make money: you must stay on the app! If you found a partner and left, they’d lose money and not make a profit. Most users stick with the free version, to they probably need to keep paying customers on there for a couple of months just to recoup their advertising costs before they even make money off you. And they need the freebie users to feel like paying is the only way to get something from the app, so they need to keep them on their long enough to get frustrated enough to start paying. They cannot afford to let you succeed. Full post here: https://theinspirationallifestyle.com/why-dating-apps-dont-work-and-what-you-should-do-instead/
@Daniel Munro well, I did some friendships on the apps (2 in 9 years of use lol) and got some dates by year (max of 3 in a year) and two that ended in a relationship. Frequently, the people who likes you have different values and are tired of being objectified by many men. I have difficulty to keep interest in people who answer messages with short phrases and words, without returning the question. The way I like to go deep into subjects requires an intimacy that doesn't yet exist with the person. That's the most frustrating part here.
Diagnosed
So I’ve just been diagnosed with burnout and a mild cognitive impairment plus an adhd sensory processing disorder. I feel like my life has been turned totally upside down. Doing my brojo journey was giving me a direction and now I feel like I’ve been thrown in to a void of strange loneliness.
Hey Paul. You said "my life has been turned totally upside down". I was there when I've been diagnosed with autism. When we don't expect these disorders on our life and the diagnosis comes, it's inevitable our lifes turn upside down. It has a kind of mourning that make us start a retrospective of our attitudes. I saw myself in loneliness too. One thing helped me was a online group of people who had the same disorder I've diagnosed, where they could share their own aches and difficulties. You're not alone at burnout and ADHD, Paul.
Hey everyone, I'm a new member
1. Where in the world are you from? I'm from Brazil, inside São Paulo. 2. What is your number one self development goal this year? To expose myself more; share my convictions and ideas, and let go even more of the fear that others might give me the evil eye. 3. What challenge or issue do you want to overcome next? My challenge is to strengthen my ability to form authentic relationships, discover purposeful ways to positively impact society, and align those efforts with my goal of financial independence.
