"You are, what you surround yourself with" Society can absolutely affect our emotional state, especially through constant exposure: social media, news, ads, short-form content like reels or YouTube Shorts. They’re designed to pull at our nervous system, and over time that can seriously destabilize emotional balance. And beyond media, the people closest to us matter a lot. Repeatedly absorbing fear, anger, or rigid worldviews from others can slowly wear us down, even without obvious conflict or violence. I’ve experienced that myself. So yes, I think society can be traumatizing. Not always through single events, but through constant pressure and exposure, especially when there’s little room to regulate or step back. But as always, there is the other side of the coin; you also absorb the positive things ^^ And yes, you can choose to a certain extend what you surround yourself with and what you absorb :)
