7 Day Challenge F-f-failed... Successfully?
Hey y'all! I'm kicking off a 7-Day Challenge to re-learn Pachelbel's Canon in D by ear/from memory, and I'm using this group to stay accountable for my daily practice. I recorded a few times & went with the one where I finally made it through (more or less). Was trying to do a little thing at the end and sorta messed it up. Other than the mistakes, what should I focus on for Day 2? UPDATE - OCTOBER 7th I think my new goal would be to just play everyday for joy and worship of my personal savior Jesus Christ, and to rest once or twice a week if I need it. I need to take my own advice sometimes, and actually rest, find ways to enjoy things instead of making them more daunting. I thank you @Rositsa Aleksandrova for this opportunity to reflect. I keep thinking about what you say about joy zone, and this piece doesn't bring me joy, not enough. I want to learn it fully, but I don't think making a challenge was a wise way to achieve that goal, putting myself under even more pressure. I consider this challenge successfully failed.

@Abhishek Tirkey good!
Hi Piano Tribers! New category “Listening Sessions” added as requested!
I learned yesterday from our connection call via zoom that some members enjoy listening and not necessarily care about learning. So I added a new category for postings of just beautiful songs… Enjoy 🎹♥️💃🧜‍♀️🎧🫡💕 and this is me playing in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Hope you like 🥰

Canon in D - learn it w me!!!
Hi Tribers, here is Canon in D. For those of us who played it - it’s a refresher & for those that have not played it yet - learn it! It’s a nice piece :) I was reading a convo between Tash ( @Natasha Fernandez ) and @Brendan Danielson last night and they mentioned the song and I chuckled because yesterday morning I had recorded it for us!!! I didn’t post it as I am doing my best not to post too much and give space for others to shine and be who they want to be 💕 Oh the serendipitous synchronicities in our lovely tribe 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love us!!!!!! I purposely shot it from above so you can see what keys I am pressing. You can pause the video, rewind, do a section several times and learn it that way. Essentially this is learning by ear. If you are a complete beginner - mess w it! You will see that is not that hard, once you get into it… Spend 5 mins several times a day w it and enjoy the journey 😀 No pressure - no deadlines! The whole entire piece is essentially built on 8 chords… after a few watches, you can improvise, once the structure is learned, and create your own amazing version of it. Cuz why not?

@Brendan Danielson would it be easier if you follow along, using this video? And pause when necessary, learn it part by part? Chunk it? Like how do you eat an elephant? Never ate one but assuming - one piece at a time 🤷‍♀️🤗

@Brendan Danielson I believe your approach was overwhelming. It happens…. That’s how we learn! We learn best from doing and not so much from being told what to do.
