It’s my our nieces birthday, so my wife is out now picking up the cake! It’s a K-Pop Demon Hunters cake, she is OBSESSED! It actually melts my heart when she starts singing, that little girl is gonna be a music icon I bet 🤣 anyway we’ll be partying hard this weekend! Hope everyone has a great one stay safe 😊

Day 17/18 - Structured walk and engagement
Pull count: 5 • Longest clean heel duration 1 min 25 • Highest reaction intensity (1–10) 2/10 • Obedience response latency (fast / ✔️moderate / slow) • Your energy state (✔️calm / rushed / drifting) Pull count: 4 • Longest clean heel duration 1 min 20 • Highest reaction intensity (1–10) 1/10 • Obedience response latency (fast / ✔️moderate / slow) • Your energy state (✔️calm / rushed / drifting) Ahhh it’s been a few days since I posted this week kinda just ended a little wild. My brother is still up visiting from down south so we’ve been doing a lot of running around between visiting with him and other family, and a bunch of other stuff for the new house, and why not I’ve been so exhausted at night and haven’t had the energy to get on and post(lame ass excuse once again)… BUT we’ve still been out there working! Our heel duration is slowly but surely increasing and I’m pretty stoked about that, she’s offering me more focus as well (even though I still haven’t started reworking a legitimized focus cue). I’m not complaining haha 😅 Our engagement/food drills have been steady. He response latency is down a lot in this aspect, really cool to see. The front paw placement is holding so that’s cool. And I think she’s ready to start increasing the duration of our contact. We’re gonna try and get some desensitization sessions in if I can find a dog park to work outside that’s not to far from me now. I got some videos of us just outside playing and messing around I’ll try to drop later! Happy training guys. Good work Maisy, proud of you! 🐕💪🏽🐕💪🏽

Day 175 Experimenting with piped scent
Have a long pipe going under a small pile of rocks at the other end is a person in a small shed with an air pump. So in theory there is some human odour coming out from the rocks. Idea is to get her to alert from a location where a person is not likely to be based on scent and also to be able to give a low odour picture. In a build collapse the setup may not look like a training pile and the person may have several collapsed floors in the middle. So hoping to use this to generalise to a non obvious location and lower scent but who knows what the dog thinks. In this she is obviously unsure she has the correct answer but smells something. I encourage her to bark as I thought I would need to first time out. Cannot afford to do too much like this or she may generalise to the added smell of the polythene pipe or the noise of the pump coming down the tube and think they are worth barking at without the human odour. Is interesting however as the low odour and unusual odour location is hard to replicate with a whole human to hide in training.

Day 16 - structured walk and engagements
Pull count: 8 • Longest clean heel duration 1 min 30 • Highest reaction intensity (1–10) 2/10 • Obedience response latency (fast / ✔️moderate / slow) • Your energy state (✔️calm / rushed / drifting) Great walk this morning with an excellent stretch for our heel duration! Nice clean minute and thirty no corrections just walking with me hitting all direction and pace changes until the break release! Such a proud moment. That was followed up by a big burst of pulling when a random bus drove into the neighborhood which doesn’t typically happen. We corrected changed directions and kept it pushing. And rebounded quite nicely back into our heeling with minimal corrections. Engagement drills were back to the bare basics with just food lures and directionals tonight as u was feeling a bit lazy. If I’m being honest I had to drag myself on here to post this. My brother is up visiting from down south and I love my family to death but they can all just be very draining so it was nice to come home and do some simple engagement work with Maisy and recharge a little before bed. Over all another positive day! Great work Maisy proud of you 💪🏽🐾🐕

Agility
Not posted in a while but all going well, we had 90 minutes solo agility today as Rio had hurt her paw so Mabel excelled! Great course with lots of wraps and turns! Love her she struggled at points but then nailed it! We even got poles were I was moving away from her and she kept going to the end!
