🎉 Author Growth Roadmap is Officially Open!
I’m genuinely so excited to share this with you! This is my signature membership program for self-published children’s book authors who want more than just “get your book published on Amazon and hope for the best.” If you truly want to build a real, sustainable children’s book business, this is for you. This is the exact roadmap I walk my private coaching clients through. Same structure. Same sequencing. The only difference is that now you can go through it step by step, at your own pace. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never published before. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already launched one or even 20 books. If you’re brand new, I’ll walk you through publishing, optimizing, and launching the right way from the beginning. If you’ve already published, this will help you position smarter, optimize better, and relaunch with an actual strategy so your next release performs stronger than your last. 📌 Here’s what's in Author Growth Roadmap First, you move through a clear 60-day roadmap to publish, optimize, and launch your children’s book the right way. No guessing. No piecing together advice from my many YouTube videos. Just a clean, structured, and sustainable plan. And we don’t stop at launch! You’ll learn how to: • Build consistent book sales • Create organic traffic systems • Diversify into wholesale and in-person opportunities • Grow your email list and website into real business assets • Scale into the children’s book brand you’ve been dreaming about Join Author Growth Roadmap at the Founding Member rate (this rate goes away Wednesday, March 4th): https://www.skool.com/author-growth-academy/plans 👇Watch the video below to get a peek inside Author Growth Academy:

@Joy Marier whoa!
Hi there.
My name is Ainsley Bloomfield. I'm a children's book illustrator who works entirely in ink and watercolor. I have written two of my books, "The Story of Marlin, the Cat" and "Greycat's Alphabet" as well. I'm excited to learn marketing techniques that will enable me to leave my job and go full-time with my artwork. In addition to children's book illustration, I have a fairly successful local card and print business, but my website that I used to support it crashed over Christmas, and I have not focused on rebuilding it yet because I have a book coming out for America 250. The last few months have been quite an adventure for me and have seen my creativity and endurance pushed to the limit, as well as helping me decide what is and isn't important for the future. I'd be especially interested in connecting with other traditional illustrators. Cheers!

Children's book illustrator and author. All traditional media. I am especially interested in getting to know those doing the same thing (ink and watercolor), and in getting my books out to enough readers that I'm able to quit my part-time job.
KDP Authors: How Many Pages Are in Your Children's Books?
For those who have published a children's book on Amazon KDP, how many pages did you write? I'm looking for some ideas. I was told that most children's books on Amazon KDP are around 24–40 pages, depending on the story and illustrations.

I write for older children with longer attention spans. So maybe 2nd to 4th grade. I usually do 1000-2000 words. I've found a lot of people (homeschoolers especially) like to read the books to younger children. The words are well spaced with lots of art, so they hold kids' interest longer than the parents first expected.
Website
Is having an author website a good idea? And what website is recommended or should the publishers set one up? Please comment.

You should definitely have an author website! It gives you so much legitimacy with readers and the curious. I was lucky to have an author/illustrator website from almost the start of my business. A pastor friend gave me platform space which he managed and installed Divi and WordPress free of charge. This year he retired and I finally had to buy my own infrastructure. I think I paid $500 all told including fees to an expert to help me with setup. I know this sum sounds terrifying, but there are many great free platforms out there. I used the pricier infrastructure to keep the "look" of my old website... and guess how well it worked? I lost all my content for good when the site was transferred, and am still rebuilding! 🫢
