Got another subscriber from the free traffic formula...
So yesterday I updated my social media posts that promote my freebie and I woke up to a new subscriber this morning...so cool! I love that my emails are already set up and I don't have to think about selling my books because the email automation just does it for me. Anyway, I hope this inspires you to finish or start setting up your freebie and automation today. :)
Lessons Learned and Life Lived Since Publishing My Picture Book - Part 2
One of the most exciting things that has happened in my little business lately is going viral on Instagram. Well, viral by children's book author standards. I had a reel with 45K views (63K views now), which showcased a special piece of art rather than any of my books. In one month, I've gone from 518 followers to nearly 3,500, which has meant 4-5 windfall sales and a LOT of excitement. I created a similar reel the following week and had excellent numbers with that as well. The problem is, my successful reels are "follow for follows." While I had many gratuitous followers, I now am following 1,175 people - which means my feed is packed with people I barely know, and I'm missing posts from accounts I value. Do you filter who you follow on Instagram, and how? Would you recommend against "follow for follow," even when it's a successful strategy? What happens when an account pops up that I don't like (they are AI-generated, occult, creepy, crude, or just really negative)? Do I follow them out of fairness, but scroll past their content? I really want to get to 10K, but keeping my word to others AND discerning what content to consume is challenging.

That's a tough call. I started out 7 years ago trying to do the whole follow for follow thing for a different business and that was a mistake because most of those people never even engaged with my content. I would avoid those chains if I were you and stick to tailoring your feed to content you are actually interested in. Followers will come...Not like I've actually gotten many yet, I know it's coming! Keep going!

@Caleb Knox I've been using the free traffic formula that Harleigh teaches and that has been super helpful. :)

Welcome!
Hello Everyone
I'm Daisy Moon 🌙📚 I'm an aspiring author behind Bloom Press, where little stories bloom. I write gentle, heartfelt picture books for kids — like Milo and Pip: A Story About Kindness, Courage and True Friendship — because I believe the best lessons for little hearts come wrapped in cozy characters and big adventures. When I'm not dreaming up new tales, you can find me bringing my stories to life through Bloom Press. Thanks for stopping by — I hope my stories bring a little more kindness and courage into your family's world. 💛

@Erika Garnett amen! This is supposed to be fun. Who cares what the naysayers say! Every time I've published a book, I've gotten better. So glad you took that leap of faith...you can now officially call yourself an author!! ♥️
