Something new is coming Monday! 🎧
I’ve been working on something behind the scenes for a little bit now, and I’m honestly so excited to finally share it with you… This Monday, I’m launching my brand new podcast!!! It’s called Children’s Book Marketing Made Easy, and you’ll be able to listen to it on the go wherever you normally listen to your podcasts. The link to the first 3 episodes will be posted here on Monday! I seriously can't wait to share this with you.

AN INTERESTING PHONE CALL
Has anyone here heard of Kravitz and Sons? I just received a phone call from them. They want to list 'Where Can We Have The Party?' on their website. I looked them up and they do have a website, but anyone can build a website before cold-calling people. I've gotten lots of spam before, but never a phone call! Has anyone ever heard of this place?

QUESTION ABOUT THE OPTIMIZE AND LAUNCH ON KDP COURSE
@Harleigh Manske I'm toward the end of the "Optimize and Launch on KDP" course and have a question. Instead of using Google Docs when planning our launch, can we use the Excel program that's built into the computer? I ask because I was wondering if there's a benefit to using docs instead of excel. I hope you understand this.

@Harleigh Manske Thanks!
What is your experience with IngramSpark and bookstores?
I have placed my first series of books on Amazon KDP. I am looking at using IngramSpark for my next book. My understanding is book stores want a 40-50% discount and free returns. I like the idea of my local book store being able to sell my book. I am also fine with the discount and making less of a royalty. But how do you plan for book returns? Has anyone had experiences with book returns by book stores?

I went with IS for my last book. Since they have a wide distribution, I had a great experience except for the returns. I was using a formatter who filled everything out for me on their dashboard. I'll never use her again! Anyway, she marked the returns box 'yes'. I was not only having the books returned to me, I was also charged for them. I don't have the kind of money that I was being charged for the returns. I called Customer Service and told them about it, they told me to go in to the dashboard and mark the return area 'destroy'. I did and haven't had a problem since. They did a great job, though! If you go with them, be sure to check the books thoroughly. Their printer makes so many mistakes like I got my book cover with someone elses story, half the book was mine and the other half was someone elses, etc. Deb
Ages?
When you say children's books, does that have a cut-off for age?

Hi Eric, Yes. The cut off age is 18. Actually, there are several age groups in the children's genre. 0-3 for board books, 3-5, for picture books, 4-8 for upper picture books, 9-12 for middle grade, 12-18 for young adult. I think young adult is split up into lower and higher young adult I could be wrong. Each age group has a different word count, too.
