Scaling Session with Frank | Replay
Hey all, here is the promised Replay of the Scaling Session with Frank. If you have any question, feel free to reach out to Frank for support. I am pretty sure he will answer your questions. Honestly, I had a few lessons about a similar system in the past but in these 45 mins with Frank I understood more about it than ever before 😅. Rest assured, Frank has more spells available for you, ... so if you are curious about this very helpful music composition system, make sure to check out his Circle of Interval Magicians. Let us know, what do you think about scaling? Do you have questions? Also, feel free to post your examples you created with his method.

I wrote a piece based on Frank's fantastic instruction. Triad scaling is fantastic for introducing a strong sense of tension and opens up so many melodic and harmonic possibilities that cannot be discovered any other way. The whole piece is based on the progression: Dm / Bb / C / Gm, which sounds in its original form at the end to bring a sense of relief. Thank you, Frank. You are such an inspirational teacher.

@Frank Herrlinger I cannot thank you enough. The way that new motifs and sonorities reveal themselves is beyond magical. I would love to write tracks like this for games. What I really find amzing is that a composer can use the technique and still retain their own identity. With scaling it’s also amzing that it can slip back into the base progression. It creates a real dynamic contrast.

Trailer Drums/FX
Hi everyone, just wanted to ask what drums and effects are you using for your trailers? I'm familiar with Keepforest and Heavyocity but are other really cool ones that anyone uses and wants to share?

The Hans Zimmer percussion from Spitfire sounds really good in Alex's trailer course. I'm actually waiting for the black Friday sale to picj it up.

@Ozan Turgay got it. Fantastic string library.

@Dominik Škrabal for me it’s the tone of the library. I use various OT string libraries but BW strings has a lush tone that really sets it apart. I find it sounds great in cues ranging from dramatic to epic. An issue that I’ve always had with the Arks is that the low strings are preorchestrated in octaves which is not always what is needed. The BW low strings are perfect for an epic bottom end with lots of bite and bark.
🎮 No More Excuses: Finding Game Dev Contacts Just Got Stupid Easy
Alright, so I just finished building something pretty cool and wanted to share it with you all. For years, we've all struggled with the same problem - how do you actually GET IN TOUCH with game developers? You find a cool indie game on Steam, want to reach out, but... no website, no contact info, everything stays locked inside Steam's ecosystem. Well, I built an automation that solves this. Here's what it does: - Scrapes Steam for games based on YOUR filters (genre, release date, etc.) - Uses AI (Perplexity) to find the actual company domains - Runs those domains through an email finder tool to get contact info - Delivers you a list of emails in literally 20-30 seconds I just ran a test - picked "survival games from last week" - and got 2 verified emails in under a minute. Then tried "adventure games from last month" and got even more. The point? There's literally no excuse anymore to say "I can't find game developers to contact." The leads are there. The tools exist. The only thing stopping you is... not doing it. Now, this is just one approach (and yes, it costs a bit for the tools), but the principle applies everywhere - if you're serious about landing game audio work, you need to get proactive about finding and reaching out to devs. What's YOUR biggest challenge with finding game dev contacts? Drop a comment below 👇
