Broke my damn toe
I broke my pinky toe. Been out of commission. Bruising is gone but it's still swollen and hurts to wear a closed toe shoe. I'm going to wrap it and see how it goes in skates. Any of you ever have a broken toe while skating? Im going loop loop without my quad wheels on 🤪 lol!

Transitioning from forwards to back
I have focused on transitioning from forwards to backwards and backwards to forwards. I’ve watched the videos over and over am I the only one?

I can skate backwards just fine but it’s making the transition in either direction which is stopping me. That’s why I m working on my hip knee and ankle mobility. Turning my foot out enough to change direction is the homework for now

@Paula Pride I’ve just had a thought maybe I should try going from backwards skating to front !
Mastering Fundamentals Is The Real Shortcut📈
Have you ever tried to learn a new move like a spin, pivot, or slide—and no matter how hard you tried, it just wouldn’t click? There’s a simple reason why this keeps happening. What if I told you the problem isn’t with the move but with your foundation? It’s easy to want to skip straight to the cool stuff—the flashy spins, smooth JB footwork, or some Snapping & pivots. (My favorite btw😊) I used to believe I was so good I could teach anyone an advanced move, even if their fundamentals weren’t solid. But every time I did this… The skater struggles. The move looks shaky and inconsistent. They leave feeling like there’s been no progress. They need to understand a few fundamentals, and then it would come much easier. Concepts like: WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION 1. Practice Bubbles Like This 2. This tight rope exercise requires TONS of precision to do correctly 3. Or weaving like this EDGE CONTROL 1. Full Edge control tutorial and breakdown (Intermediate Course) 2. Single Leg Edge Control WEIGHT TRANSFER 1. Crossing over is one of the first techniques that matters a lot when doing PROPER POSTURE 1. Falling correctly 2. Basic Skate Posture These are the fundamental pillars that I teach through. You see how these 4 are not about moves but the broader concepts that are at play as we progress and learn more complex techniques.

@Veronique Graves I just reached that place and at first it was very scary to lean out on those edges, but after several repetitions I mean like weeks and weeks one day it just happened and I felt in control and I could stay there forever. Try the exercise where you stand with your feet side-by-side and see how far you can lean overand then try it with one foot off the ground and lean out. and then try it with one foot off the ground and lean out. It will definitely feel scary it will definitely feel scary but you will reach your point when you’re more comfortable with what you’re doing
Skate type question
I’ve watched real good skaters at the rinks around the country (videos) and am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is an advantage or reason they wear those skates with high backs? It looks like maybe they are good for better aligning you over your toes?

Levelling UP👍🏾
I finally feel confident enough to get rid of those ginormous toe stops and exchange them for Jahm plugs. 😎

@Carrie Morgan what wheels did you have on for your street skate. I took off my chaya factory fit 78s which where a lot better indoors than out, and exchanged them for airwaves which where stickier, softer , bigger and wider. I also upped the bearings to Abec 9 . It felt like I had gone from a mini metro to a porch . My first two outings had me doubting myself because they went so fast with no resistance and i stopped skating for two or three months. My concsience wouldnt allow me to give up. I eventualy worked out how to safely get back on my wheels. I am back out now and let me tell you those Airwaves eat up the road. I litterally glide over terrain that would have previosly been a nightmare. Best of all my legs are not wirking as hard to maintain momentum. If not the street then get to the park trust me you’ll enjoy the outdoor energy in a new way . ❤️

@Carrie Morgan I completely get you. Here in the UK indoor venues are few and if you just want to skate outdoors is where it is at. I love skating through my local park, the ground is uneven there are lots of obstacles people children unleashed dogs 🤦🏾‍♀️ not to mention the tree branches However there is something for me about being out in nature. It’s icy cold so yesterday I skated and decided to practice indoors in my kitchen which I’ve not been brave enough to do. So that will be a real challenge for me
