Registering a tutoring business name. Advice needed.
Do I have to register my name as a sole trader? Do I register with HMRC even before I even started? How do you protect your tuition name?

@Najma Farah no you do not need to register as a sole trader or at HMRC unless you're a full time self employed.

Anyone Taken Time Off to Build Their Tutoring Business?
“Asalamu Alaykum everyone, I’d love some advice from those who have scaled their tutoring business.I’m currently in a position where I’m considering taking 6 months off from full-time work (after my PGCE) to focus fully on building my tutoring income and systems. For those who’ve done something similar:– Is taking a 6-month period to focus solely on scaling realistic?– Did stepping away from full-time work help you grow faster?– Any mistakes or tips you’d share? I want to make a strategic decision, so any insights would be hugely appreciated.

Hi Najma, Taking time off to scale up is nice but ask yourself this do you have enough client base to have that income you need for 6 months. If the answer is yes do it. I personally left UK and found work in Saudi Arabia as I couldn't do that work and yes it did give me time to do my tutoring, but mainly face to face. I had a colleague who came from UK and was doing online tutoring and continued that while he was here in KSA. My advice evaluate your circumstances financially and if you have a client base now that can lead to scaling do it if not build that client base first

Sundays are my hardest day
I do 6 hours of tutoring on Sunday. Almost back to back from 11 until 7 with a few breaks in between. My mother often suggest that I should spread them out across the week (since I am free on wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays). I always say "I prefer to be completely free some days than to be half free every day" Which do you prefer ?

Better to spread the work because you still have time to do what you need and you're not stressed. Also, isn't the whole point to have time to do what you need and be stress free

How do you deal with losing clients ?
Losing clients is part of online tutoring business. It's important to keep churn low and retain your students but sometimes it evitable. Maybe the student is not progressing, maybe the parent found a cheaper option, maybe they decided to go for in person instead. Whatever the reason, what do you do ? How do you feel ?
