Emotions, energy in motion.
I've been part of a men's group the ladt 6 months. Its taken me 6 months, but ladt week I let something go. I had always suppressed anger, its what I had to do to survive as a kid. As an adult I ended up passive aggressive, resentful, people pleasing, and other nice guy stuff.. I had begun to realise in my learning that suppression hurt and caused problems, but the explosion I feared in violence was not useful either. But actually getting up in front of a circle of myen and yelling and screaming was a push. I was scared, felt emotionally stuck, and I did it any way. And I'm sure there's many ways to move emotion, but fuck that was a powerful experience of moving my energy and feeling ok after, and being accepted by a group of humans was amazing. I feel it was a good experience, I suspect there is more, I think opening to emotion, sensation, feelings, is something I need to move through to see what's on the other side....flexible emions and bhaviours I suspect are ahead of me.

@Hemi Rainford Many thanks! Yes..long repressed stuff needing to be let flow and let go. ...
Breaking old pattern, and non nice guy wisdom.
I could write a lot about enmeshment, family patters,co dependency, and maybe I will...but briefly today: I became my mums emotional regulator when little and tried to save her (from men mostly, ..a dysfunction in the making)leading to severe nice guy syndrome. Now my mum is over 80, I'm helping again....but am doing my best to do it in new ways. I just had a call with my mum and I could feel my wanting to people please, rescue, control ...I asked a friend I'm staying with how couldi do different? My friend basically said: don't prempt, and try to manage,...she suggested don't over offer, and wait and just help when asked . So a non nice guy (girl in my friends case) basically tells me what I am learning here on Brojo ...I'm lighting awesome of people who didn't grow up "nice", and how sensible they generally are.

@Hemi Rainford Yeah! Frustrating, but gives me hope!
More wins in my world.
More wins in my world. I do feel at times quite behind. Behind as a recovering person. My wins so often seem to me small things, and things I "should" have learned when I was a younger man. But, I did not, and I'm learning now. The ladt relationship i had 2 years ago, it ended Iike many others. I had no ability to argue. I responded like the only child I used to be having the 2 adults he depended on yelling and fighting, and ignoring the child.... Any way, I had never really learned that I coukd have an argument, but still like or love the person who upset me. I just didn't know behaviour and human could be seen as different. So my win in the last day or 2 was having an argument, staying with it (not getting angry back, and not suppressing and backingvdown), and keeping at it till there was resolution. It was a bank manager , and I had not received a key email so I fronted up expecting page A, but she was on page G , and I got confused and upset. She got defensive and overbearing. I held my self, and tried to talk it through, not run and not get petulant. I managed to hang in and the facts became clearer and clearer, and in the end she almost apologiesed and was pleased we had sorted it out. For me ...fucking win! One of tge first times I have been able to tolerate the emotion in me in an argument and stuck with it ...here's to many more!

Shameless Course: Introduce Myself
Hey guys. I am currently taking the Shameless and Unbreakable Course, and I want to dot my I’s and cross my T’s to complete the Assignment: Introduce yourself. I know this year is coming to a close, and 2026 is going to start in less than a day in a half, but I want to take this time to introduce myself with my answers to the following questions. Cheers! i. Where are you from? I am from the United States ii. What is your number one self-development goal this year (2026)? My number one self-development goal for the year is to break passivity and envy which is contributing to Green Light Syndrome for me. iii. What challenge or issue do you want to overcome next? Not getting complacent and stuck in my comfort zone (actively get out of my comfort zone more)

@Daniel Munro h yes...that was so deeply embedded in my version of nice guy, I didn't even think to question it. I would never initiate in the past. I didn't know my preferences, and I certainly would not speak them out for fear of "saying something the other person didn't like".
Intro
Hey Guys! I'm new to Brojo, but I went to the Brotherhood meeting yesterday and immediately put Dan's suggestions to work with some wild results that brightened my day. I grew up near New York City, but now live in a small, but vibrant city in North Carolina, USA. I practice Taoism to increase my health and spiritual development. Probably my favorite thing to do is to hike and practice Chi Kung in nature. I also enjoy performing improv comedy, creating abstract art with crystals, and dancing to hip-hop. Looking forward to getting to know you as we move past the bullshit and into presence.
