A Lesson In Resilience
I received a rejection email from a job that I was a finalist on. Given my technical experience and my preparation for the interview, I thought I would have a great chance of getting the job and have a sense of relief by moving forward with my career. However, that wasn’t the case, and I felt crushed after getting that rejection. Although I enjoyed my interview with the team and time spent onsite in their lab, I realize I need to keep moving with my job search. Throughout my life, I struggle with resilience and willingness to handle a hassle. The job market is much more difficult than it was in 2023. Now, I am working on improving my resilience by working harder in my job search to network a lot more and work on my interview skills. Normally a rejection would stay with me for longer than it should. Now, I can’t let one upset derail me from building my career.

Thank you, Jan. You're right - things have changed significantly since 2023, and it was completely out of our control. But, resiliency is the one thing we can control. I got my current job in 2023 when I least expected it.

@Daniel Munro That's true. I wonder what opportunity awaits for me next.
A moment of Brojo style social integrity today
Wanted to share something that made me quite proud that happened just recently. I was at the gym, mostly working on back, and then I went to a rack to set up for some barbell Yates rows. Then a woman came up to me and said that I can't work out here because it's reserved for classes. I asked if the gym is closed, then I should have been notified at the entrance. She decided to piss down my back while telling me it's raining (note to self: use this colorful phrase next time) saying that the gym is not closed, just that area. Of course anyone who goes to the gym knows that unavailable squat racks is logically equivalent to a gym being closed She said I can ask the front desk and I went ahead and did that. A couple more iterations of me repeating the obvious point that I deserve a refund for my visit today, and the formulaic pushback from the mouth of the front desk, and finally the front desk lady gave in and gave me my refund. Then I finished the rest of my workout that didn't need the rack and went on with my day. Perhaps 5 years ago I would've just kept my head down, slumped, defeated, perhaps 2 years ago I would do something morally justified but practically useless like calling the first woman a cunt many times in succession. And today I did the best action. Get high on your own supply, of integrity, gentlemen

That's good you didn't let her push you around and you kept a cool head. It's always the worst when there is miscommunication, especially from your gym.
Shameless Course: Introduce Myself
Hey guys. I am currently taking the Shameless and Unbreakable Course, and I want to dot my I’s and cross my T’s to complete the Assignment: Introduce yourself. I know this year is coming to a close, and 2026 is going to start in less than a day in a half, but I want to take this time to introduce myself with my answers to the following questions. Cheers! i. Where are you from? I am from the United States ii. What is your number one self-development goal this year (2026)? My number one self-development goal for the year is to break passivity and envy which is contributing to Green Light Syndrome for me. iii. What challenge or issue do you want to overcome next? Not getting complacent and stuck in my comfort zone (actively get out of my comfort zone more)
