ā€œReading the roomā€ vs. hypervigilance (similar, but not the same)
This is a big one. We tend to scan. We try to protect something in ourselves. But here’s the question: When you’re hyper-focused… are you focused? Or are you hypervigilant? Because those are not the same. Here is the distinction: Reading the room = observing what’s happening (tone, energy, engagement) Hypervigilance = interpreting and filling in gaps (ā€œthey’re judging meā€) Quick check in the moment: Am I observing or interpreting? Do I have evidence or am I guessing? Use this in meetings: Pause → Notice → Name Pause: don’t react Note: facts only Name: ā€œThis person looks distractedā€ vs. ā€œThey think I’m boringā€ That shift keeps you clear instead of spiraling. And this is why people freeze: your attention turns inward under pressure. Fix the attention → your message follows.

Thank you for the suggested usage. Wow. Facts vs Perception. This is very useful
What no one tells you about public speaking
I wanted to share a YouTube video I recorded on a question I get all the time: ā€œHow do I speak in front of others without feeling awkward or losing myself?ā€ Most people think the answer is: šŸ‘‰ speak more šŸ‘‰ prepare more šŸ‘‰ use better English (for my international professionals) But that’s not what actually works. Inside the video, I break it down into 3 simple shifts: • Read the room first (before you speak) • Start simple (ā€œHi, my name isā€¦ā€ + pause) • Use less words (your presence does more than you think) This is directly connected to what we train here: → not just what to say → but how to enter a moment with control If you’ve ever: • frozen when attention is on you• felt pressure to ā€œfill the silenceā€ • or didn’t know how to start speaking Watch this šŸ‘‰ https://youtu.be/W0vxWyMWKxc?si=wu_J2I8XNWX5eofv Then come back here and tell me: šŸ‘‰ which of the 3 felt hardest for you? I’ll help you work through it.

Great reminder! I have to be mindful of reading the room vs hyper vigilance, which tends to happen to me.
Quick question...
When you struggle with communication at work, what happens most often?

I can’t pick one! It’s between I sound less confident, overthink and freeze. I may need to talk this one out with you
I committed to showing up daily (even before it feels like it’s working)
I’ve been listening closely to Evelyn Weiss on how to grow this community… And something clicked. She doesn’t just teach strategy. She teaches leadership. So I made a decision. Not to wait. Not to overthink. Not to disappear when it feels quiet. I made a commitment… to show up here, daily, for you. Because this is what it actually takes: → Risk being wrong→ Commit anyway→ Lead before it feels full ā€œI am here.ā€ That’s the energy I’m stepping into. And if you’re here reading this: you’re part of what we’re building. Let’s grow this, together. Are you committed to showing up consistently (even when it feels quiet)?

Love this! Has me thinking about the level of commitment I’m engaging in and inspiring me to jump in daily even in small ways! I show up for myself daily in many areas of personal growth, but now I’m thinking how I can show up for myself in this initiative of public speaking. If you’re posting daily I plan to view :)
