absolutely mesmerizing - and relaxing

I learned a simple technique that has helped me to add improvisation: sing/hum the tune and magically you will hum/sing what would be good in that 'spot'.

I think I'm a 2 - I get ideas but it is hard for me to not use lead sheets - I think I use those most for reading the rhythm. 🥁

Today I joined the Flutarians, a community of fun flutists who believe that improvising can be smooth, not tricky. When I first started, I felt inadequate - like a ? caught in volcano. But now I am learning to improvise with comfort and without confusion. My tone feels more lovely every time I play. Even Dragon has started to notice! I am already improvising in class. I am an improviser! Every day I am becoming a more free improviser. I trust my gut. With each improvisation I am letting go of hesitation. With each musical phrase, I am finding & expressing my unique musical voice. I improvise! I am committed to able to determine the key of a song quicker. I will not be defeated by the feeling of being overwhelmed; My future self is grateful to my present self for taking it one step at a time. I am a Flutarian, and I am improving my improvising!
