@Melissa Dhyne I think it's a strong add to her story, great idea. As a Mom, I have used my version of the story to become an advocate for CPR/AED training because if she ever dropped at a match or practice, I wouldn't have ever thought to look for an AED machine or knew she needed one. That's terrifying to think about. To know that a 30 second EKG would have picked this up at any point in her life has me pushing for having it become standardized in high school sports physicals. I used our event community platform to bring in a certification sponsor and talk about the importance of having your event staff be trained and know where the machines are but it applies to all humans everywhere! Here's my LinkedIn post on how I use this story for advocacy because this message needs to come from all angles: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/nicoleosibodu_6-months-ago-we-found-out-my-16-year-old-activity-7376601377776525312-iuH2?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAF1kJ4BWhHkdC5efwmo3I9pEqQI6Mamylc

@Melissa Dhyne I will tell her and we'll come up with something!!
Anyone in Austin?
Are there any athletes here based in Austin? The Chair of USA Swimming is giving us a behind the scenes tour of a meet this week and we're going to do a cannonball contest off the blocks because that's fun. If anyone wants to come, let me know, would be a fun BTS filming opportunity and we'll have tickets to the event for ya!

I loved watching you do your thing going from car back to car. What you could try for some of the parts like getting your stuff out of the trunk and putting on your shoes, etc., is increase the speed of those clips because what I think your personality shines through when you're talking to the camera but those clips are awesome and essential in showing a "day in the life" like this. And seeng how I bend over and bowl like an old lady using both hands (I know!), I would love to learn anything you have to teach me. Where do I look when I let go of the ball? How heavy is yours? What are some of the big mistakes young bowlers make that become habits that are hard to break when you're older? How big is female bowling in the US (to show if bowling is up and coming)? I had NO clue you could bowl in college so I agree that you have so much to teach the world and your storytelling style is so awesome, keep it up! On question...can you bowl with long nails? If so, hello nail brands! If not, hello gel polish brands! :)

Life lesson I learned this week
I posted in a girls wrestling parent group this week about excited I was that London had the opportunity to learn about NIL deals, recruitment and branding through this community. The response was fast and sharp which I should have expected from a FB group of strangers, but still, it caught me off guard. It sent me thinking about something I’ve seen with people who start new things or make progress in something: the beginning is rarely kind. There’s usually noise before there’s momentum, and the noise often says more about the room than the person. What hit harder was that this wasn’t about me, it was about my kid. That’s the moment that makes me wanna ask someone to hold my earrings because I'm about to make choices that don't look great on paper, ha! But I paused. It also made me notice how different sports feel. When London played hockey, the parent spaces felt more supportive. Wrestling feels more individual - which it literally is but I wasn't expecting that to extend to the parent energy. As I start this journey with my daughter, especially as a young female learning not to take everything to heart, it’s making it very clear how important the right kind of armor is when she puts herself out there. Not to block the world, just to keep other people’s opinions from moving in and taking over her head. You already train for top mental performance when you compete, but adding outside commentary is a whole different layer (even for me as a Mom!). Athletes are basically mini public figures now and it makes a lot of sense why Taylor Swift doesn’t read her comments! :) The lesson I learned was the same as the athletes here need to watch what things they let into their energy bubbles and heads, parents need to do the same. For me, I am going to exit the wrestling FB group to only allow proactive things in...and to make sure I don't end up in prison (kidding...but am I though?). :) Has anyone else noticed different sports carrying different "support" vibes when it comes to the parent side?

@Emily Olds Thanks, you're the best!
🤝 Parent–Athlete Communication 🤝
Many families are already talking about NIL, social media, and future opportunities; even if they are still figuring it out together. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 These conversations help athletes build confidence and make more informed decisions. 🧠 Alignment between parents and athletes creates less stress and more clarity along the way. 👓 What NIL related topics are you currently discussing with your athlete at home? 🏡

We're just starting to talk about the work and commitment of accepting an NIL deal in the future and being able to execute the agreements without becoming overwhelemed.
