What type of fire is in your belly?
In the January Ayurvedic Cooking class, I shared how our digestive energy (agni) is like a fire that needs tending with the goal of attaining Samagni (balanced fire). When our digestive energy is healthy, we digest, absorb and eliminate our food and nutrients with ease. We feel hungry naturally at meal time and satisfied in between. However, there can be times when our digestion feels off. Ayurveda has ways to identify this change in our Agni including 🐌 Mandagni - Low digestion | Food feels heavy in our belly, sluggish, nausea after eating, can have no or low appetite. 🔥 Tikshnagni - High digestion | Continuously feeling hungry even after a meal, hunger is strong and sharp, hangry feelings, acidity ↕️ Vishmagni - Variable digestion | Appetite comes and goes, often at wrong time of day. Again the goal is ⚖️ Samagni - balanced digestion | hunger comes naturally and at meal times, satisfied between meals, light and energized after meals. If you're looking for ways to find balance, watch the January 2026 Yoga and Ayurvedic Cooking classes in the Classroom. We share how Surya Namaskar activates the inner sun and how to prepare your Agni with herbs, teas and a pre-breakfast meal. Which Fire is in your belly most often?

Glossary of Yoga and Ayurveda terms
There's a lot of Sanskrit terms used in Yoga and Ayurveda and you'll likely hear us use them in conversation. Of course you can always ask us to explain the meaning of the word, we're happy to explain it! Also, you can reference the growing glossary of terms on the Bodhi Ayurveda website

Welcoming the return of light
Happy Solstice and the return of light to each day! We gained a whole 2 seconds of extra daylight today and each day until the Summer Solstice, it will pick up speed. This momentum of growing daylight reminds me how our Blissful Living Academy Community is starting to evolve. We look forward to having you all join us at our first live Chit, Chat and Chai on January 14th @ 10am CST/11am EST. This will be a fun, casual gathering for us to get to know each other, hear why @Kathleen Wright and @Carol Nace started this community and all the events we have planned for 2026. Save the event to your calendar today! https://www.skool.com/blissful-living-academy-4719/calendar?calDate=1769135624&eid=bad6dfee95e4480fa6a085532d4b5a85

Grab a cup of chai or favorite warm beverage. Cuddle up with a warm blanket. And join us for a bit of chit chat. Today, we're hosting our first LIVE Chit Chat and Chai event at 11am EST/10am CST. Kathleen and I will be sharing our story of how we came to Yoga, Ayurveda and creating the Blissful Living Academy community. See how the community works for you and what events we have coming up. We also invite you to share your story and what you are looking forward to inside the community.

Today will be my peaceful (blissful) day
Have you seen the Walk for Peace sadhana of a small group of venerable Buddhist monks (and a spiritual dog), dedicating 120 days to walk from Dallas TX to DC? Their message is simple, the mindfulness practice of peace start with each of us. Their advice is steadfast that if we wake each day and write on a piece of paper...This will be my peaceful day....we can begin our sadhana to peace. Peace and bliss are interchangeable. Peace is a state of calm, compassion and tranquility. We define a state of bliss similarly, it a state of balance, ease and an open heart full of love. Both start within and expand infinitely. Follow their journey My hope is to walk with them in the next couple weeks as they pass near Charlotte NC. I'll share that experience with you here.
