@Aimee Jones Oooh this is a good one. If I had to choose (and didn’t have a coach who could adjust programming to accommodate both), I’d prioritize the plan of the race that is more important to you. If 10k is more important, finish 10k plan and enter marathon plan at a point that makes sense. If marathon is more important, start the marathon plan, but maybe look at the 10k plan and see where you could swap a few workouts so you have some 10-k specific work going in. I currently have a 10k in the middle of marathon training (it falls during peak weeks, actually- not ideal). To handle it I’ll either fun-run the 10k (not race it full out), or switch a few runs around in my marathon plan so I’m not running the 10k back to back with a big marathon long run workout.
