Happy Wednesday y'all! I am super excited to announce that our June athlete spotlight is the incredible @Kristine Owen Wood! Added Upcoming Marathons To The Calendar!
Shout out to @Emily Bailey for the idea and for collecting a list of everyone's upcoming marathons! You'll now find any upcoming milestones on the calendar, if I'm missing any please feel free to comment and I will add them :). You'll also see the name of the community member running the race in the invite so you know who to cheer on! Training tip Tues!!
What’s your training tip of the day?! Mine is to freeze 1/2 your water before a hot run so it slowly melts as you go! Don’t sleep on freezing your gels either!!

@Taylor Sayles I have always wondered about freezing gels… will have to give that a try! Seeing as I’m currently training through 1-2 weeks of solid rain, here are my tips for making rainy runs more comfortable: 1) Brimmed hat, 2) Wrap your topknot in cling wrap if you have coloured hair or want to prevent saturation, 3) Wear latex/nitrile gloves under regular gloves to keep hands warm in cold + rain, 4) Rub Vaseline all over your feet before you put your socks on to prevent blisters 👍🏻

PR’d my half marathon today!!!
I was going for an even better pace record (because you know how us runners are lol). But I am super happy with what I accomplished today. I beat my last half marathon by 13 minutes! I will take it! I felt awesome and put the work in so my finish was just perfect for me. Now onto Bigger goals, FULL MARATHON IN DECEMBER! 😱 Thank you to this group for so many amazing suggestions.

@Emily Bailey When I first started doing distances beyond 10k I was so fearful of emergency bathroom stops on runs. I’m glad that I finally got over it. SO much better to just deal with it ASAP!

@Emily Bailey We’re getting into the good stuff now, lol. I have also weathered the humiliation of holding too long and NOT winning the battle 🥴🙊 (As you say- run long enough both in terms of years and distance and you WILL amass a few bathroom stories 😆)
