Time Capsual Find
Digging through some dusty old boxes, I struck gold—well, more like tarnished silver! These ancient timepieces, probably 25 years old and sporting dials tinier than a dime, look like they’ve been napping since the Y2K scare. Compared to my beefy 40+mm Invictas, these puny watches feel like they’re squinting at me. Is it worth slapping a $10 battery in these relics to see if they can still tick, or should I let them snooze in peace? What do you think—revive the old-timers or stick with my wrist tanks?

@G R Yeah. I don't think I could "forget" having a Rolex and a bunch of Tags worth that much. I can be forgetful at times, but have my limits.
Back in the Rotation, or Relagated to the Bench
Sorry for the baseball metaphor. This is one of my earlier Invictas. The Invicta ProDiver 28777 impresses with its bold 48mm stainless steel case and striking black-and-gunmetal dial, offering a rugged yet stylish dive watch look that stands out for its price. I find it as a practical choice for office and casual wear. While its size might overwhelm smaller wrists, its solid construction and versatile design earn it praise as a budget-friendly homage to luxury dive watches.

Nice. This is a size that I can wear with no issue. I love the dial. The only thing I might wish is that they chose a different font for the bezel. It looks kind of Star Wars font to me.
If you could only keep 2
If there were a limit to your collection, and for whatever reason you could only keep 2 watches forever, what 2 watches would they be and why?

My Bulova Lunar Pilot I bought myself after earning a promotion and a Citizen Chronograph I was gifted by my wife and son. They are both watches that can work casual and a bit more formal. The Citizen has a grey dial and can work with most color palettes I would wear and I switch out my straps on the Lunar Pilot. I get sentimental value and flexibility with these choices.
Tariffs: Am I getting two new watches?
Earlier this year - well before all this tariff crap started here in the US - I pre-ordered two watches from Erebus. A few days ago, I received an email from Erebus that the first one was ready for shipment, followed by another stating the same thing for the second watch. Hooray! I'm about to get the two watches for which I've already paid! Right? Early this morning, I received an email from DHL with the attached message. I'm expecting a second email regarding the second watch any minute now. Now I have to decide whether it's worth spending another $468.34 to receive two watches I thought I had already paid for...

@Robert Meyers The sad part is that it is too late for us to just start thinking about this now, but many are.

@Robert Meyers It is a killer for any business with complex assemblies or multiple component items. Even "American Made" watches likely have some not insignificant percentage of parts that are fabricated elsewhere. Paying a 20%+ increase on even 25% of your parts is a margin killer and will lead to higher prices. Targeted tariffs can make sense when we have adequate US supply, bit broad stroke tariffs when options are few is an absolute killer to businesses that make anything with any level of complexity to it.
Avoiding coming across as fake while setting a goal
Good afternoon gentlemen, So now this is for me and what I am doing. I know that when you go and get an expensive watch when people see it some will say that you are fake, living above you means or over compensating. And you truly are not because they never seen you with a high quality watch. But at the same time it might take awhile if you like me and have obligations that sometimes prevent you from getting what you want when you want it . So what I am doing is, finding a watch that I want then look for the same style in an off brand to wear to see how I like it and what to wear with it. Plus I can get response form people and no I am not going to tell them it’s the real deal. I will be honest and say no I just liked the style and want to see how I like it. But at the same time seeing it on me and wearing it will give me the drive and desire to work towards getting the real deal, and hey when I do I can pass the off brand over to my grandson to he can learn how to care for watches and he can see what he likes and as he gets older he can save up for what he likes. This way I am not totally wasting money I can see how I like it and what I really want and also passing something on to my grandson to help him learn style, care and build his own collection of watches in his journey to being a gentleman.

I find Pagani Design watches are great for this. They pay "homage" to a lot of high end watches. They copy sizes, style, and such, but at a cost of $80 - $125. They can look like the real thing from afar, but they are clearly marked as what they are so you are not buying fakes. You are buying "replicas" or "homage" pieces. When I started my watch journey, Pagani was my guide. They were my trials. They have good quality, especially for the price, and they don't break the bank while you sample a few different styles.
