Which Chess Piece(s) Are You Playing As?
What if chess pieces were more than just game tokens? What if each one held secrets about human nature, psychology, and the patterns that govern our world? Consider this while you are networking. Which chess piece(s) are you playing as for this challenge? Which one are you encountering? Each chess piece represents a unique way of thinking, moving through the world, and solving problems. These aren't just game pieces—they're archetypes for different types of consciousness, each with their own personality, philosophy, and hidden potential. The Pawn: The Unlikely Hero's Journey Every pawn starts the same way—small, limited, taking one tentative step forward at a time. However, the pawn is the only piece that can completely transform its identity. A humble pawn that reaches the other side of the board can become a queen—the most powerful piece in the game. It's the ultimate underdog story, built right into the rules. The Pawn's Psychology: - Never goes backward (like time itself—always moving forward) - Gets one chance at a double-step when starting fresh (that burst of beginner's enthusiasm) - Attacks differently than it moves (peaceful until provoked) - Can capture "in passing" (seizing those fleeting opportunities) Pawns are strongest in groups, forming chains and protective structures. Alone, they're vulnerable. Together, they control the entire game. There's a profound life lesson here about collective strength and the power of patient progress. The Knight: The Creative Rule-Breaker The knight is chess's rebel—the only piece that refuses to move in straight lines. That awkward L-shaped hop might look clumsy, but it's pure genius: the knight can reach any square on the board and is the only piece that can jump over obstacles. Knights Think Differently: - They see paths others can't (literally jumping over obstacles) - Always land on a different color (constantly shifting perspective) - Create "forks" (attacking two pieces at once through creative positioning) - Thrive in cramped positions where other pieces struggle

@Lukas Schmidt I probably could have picked a better title. I imagine we all have aspects of all of the pieces but I most closely resonate with the Knight and the Queen. Creative Jack of All Trades who thinks outside the box but tends to isolate and do everything on my own.
❓ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 — 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱?
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗻? I’m genuinely curious about your take—especially if you run a community, course, membership, or product. Here’s what I’ve seen across clients and my own experience:🚨 Most people don’t leave because of price or lack of value. They leave because they stop feeling engaged. Even a great offer won’t hold attention forever without intentional experience design. And that’s where gamification makes all the difference. I just posted a video where I break down: 🎯 Why traditional loyalty programs often fail 💸 How churn eats into growth more than most realize 🕹️ How gamification can increase long-term engagement 🎮 And how LinkedIn increased profile completion by 50% with one simple gamified element These same principles have helped me (and my clients) increase retention and customer lifetime value significantly. 🎥 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄📘 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗯 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲: 3 Gamification Hacks to Boost Retention 👇 What’s one thing that’s actually helped you keep people engaged—or something that totally flopped?Let’s swap ideas and save each other some headaches.

@Rob Alvarez I believe that the bulk of value in good communities stems from the culture and environment of the community. There can be next to no value provided but if people feel at home and have something to keep them engaged while they are there then does what they're doing really need to be valuable? To increase engagement and collect more data in the loyalty programs I ran the most successful tactic was simply to reduce the friction of engaging as much as possible by showing them exactly how (Monkey See Monkey Do), making it easy to do (include a template or limited the number of choices), reward them early and often.

@Rob Alvarez Lol. Okay. Yeah. That's what I was referring to as well. Holding space for people is sometimes all of the value that people need. It largely depends on the objective of the owner as well as the member, but as you and I both know, that's where the beauty of gamification comes into play. It allows for win-win(-win) situations through elegant design, but as your video states, most implementations are only focused on leveraging it for one side of the coin.
What are the responsibilities of each role?
@Cody Isabel recently asked me what each class does daily, weekly and monthly. The short answer is: 🛡️ Knights Attract with Content 🏹 Rangers Convert with Activities 🔮 Wizards Deliver with Projects Below is a video where I cover the daily, weekly and monthly tasks. I also added a table as a cheat sheet. Think about what you enjoy and what you are good at. This will help you find your role and adapt it to your playstyle. The more tasks you complete, the better you will get. @Evan Ezell and I are currently working on a form to help you find the role best suited for you. This is the mystery gift after you complete the tutorial. Which of these tasks are you currently doing?

Going to go ahead and frame this another way for my own sake so that I can keep track in terms of Notion. Feel free to ignore this if it confuses anyone. The three roles are cyclical. Knights perform tasks that are object oriented and result in Resources or artifacts (Past) (Object) like content or information which are tangible and not timebound that Attract people (these are often planned for by the Wizard and are the result of a structured plan like a Project in which deliverables are created), Rangers perform tasks that are action oriented and executed like meetings (Present) (Descriptive) These actions are predicated by what the Knight has put forth resulting in Interactions (Present) that are brought about by the context provided by what the Knight has done. Wizards perform tasks that result in objectives, (Future) (Subject) Oriented Plans, or intangible outcomes that are then carried out and possibly result in the object.

Breathwork is cool. It's interesting that alot of the euphoric beneficial affects of it stem from the creation of Nitric Oxide like the laughing gas you get at the dentist. Physiology of Nitric Oxide Production in Breathwork Nasal Breathing and Sinus-Derived NO Deep, rhythmic nasal breathing routes air through your sinuses, where epithelial cells naturally produce nitric oxide (NO). When you inhale through the nose, this NO mixes with incoming air and travels into your lungs and bloodstream, boosting local NO concentration without changing ambient nitrogen levels in your blood. Enzymatic Generation in the Endothelium Within blood vessels, endothelial cells convert the amino acid L-arginine into NO via nitric oxide synthase (NOS) enzymes. Enhanced airflow and slight changes in shear stress during deep breathing stimulate NOS activity, increasing NO release directly into the vasculature and promoting smooth-muscle relaxation. Amplification through Humming and Breath Holds Practices like Bhramari (humming bee breath) leverage vocal cord vibrations to mechanically stimulate sinus tissues. Studies show that humming can raise nasal NO levels by up to 15-fold, flooding the lungs and bloodstream with NO during and immediately after the practice. Similarly, breath-hold techniques (Kumbhakas) prolong contact time between NO-rich sinus air and the respiratory epithelium, further amplifying systemic NO delivery1. Additional note: sustained NO elevations from regular breathwork support vasodilation, improve circulation, modulate immune response, and shift the body toward a parasympathetic “rest-and-repair” state.
Alice in Borderland
Has anyone seen this show on Netflix? Theres a third season coming out on Sep 25, so now is a good time to start checking it out. I love anything that delves into the power of games and this is another show that shows how games with a handful of simple rules can create incredible layers of dynamics. I really liked a quote at the end of Season 2 from the Queen of Hearts - "Life is just a game we play together. You should try to enjoy it." Can y'all recommend any other shows whether fiction based or "reality" based that highlight different aspects of Social Games like Survivor, Big Brother, Squid Games, or Alice in Borderland?

@Mariam Kipiani It's so good. By the Brothers turned Sisters that made the Matrix. Has some risque parts in it, and I'm not quite sure what made it so good, but it was. Its filmed all over the world and the characters are all different nationalities. Maybe that's why I liked it so much. Good concept and well executed acting. I've rewatched it so many times over the years, but still at a loss for pinning down what it is about it that I like so much.

@Lukas Schmidt My brother watched the Beast Games in the same room as me, but it didn't capture my attention much. I popped in and out of it. I agree it was too much luck involved. Still interesting to see the psychological affects of decision making when there's that much randomization to it, but I lean more towards something like 100 Humans. Here's what Copilot came up with after reading this conversation: 🧪 Social Experiments & Human Behavior - The Circle Contestants interact only via a social media app, choosing to be themselves or catfish others. Strategy meets identity. - 100 Humans Uses quirky experiments to explore human behavior across age, gender, and personality. - Are You Normal? A lighthearted look at what people consider “normal,” using surveys and experiments to reveal social norms. - Mind Field Hosted by Vsauce’s Michael Stevens This YouTube Premium series dives deep into psychological experiments and ethical dilemmas. 🎮 Game-Based Survival & Psychological Thrillers - The 8 Show Eight strangers locked in a building for 100 days, buying necessities at inflated prices using future prize money. Social hierarchy meets economic strategy. - 3% Brazilian dystopian thriller where only 3% of candidates pass a brutal selection process to reach a utopian society. - Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor Anime about a man forced into deadly games to pay off debt. High-stakes strategy and psychological warfare. - Darwin’s Game Another anime where players battle using unique powers in a deadly mobile app game. Fast-paced and tactical. - Liar Game Japanese drama where contestants must deceive and outwit others to win money. Trust is a weapon. 🏝️ Reality Competition & Strategy - Survivor Tribal alliances, physical challenges, and social manipulation. The OG of strategic reality TV. - Big Brother Social game meets confinement. Alliances, betrayals, and 24/7 surveillance. The Challenge Alumni from Real World and Road Rules compete in intense physical and mental challenges. Long-running and cutthroat.
