What are you struggling with in your surfing right now ⁉️
Brainstorming ideas & topics for future content and live meetings. Would love input, since we make all our content with you in mind! - What are you struggling with at the moment? - Are there any topics that have peaked your interest recently? - Any questions you've had while out in the water lately? Any comment is welcome and appreciated! Thanks for being an amazing group!

@Trevor Berge thanks. @David Jenett I've worked with some surfers to get them back in the water after this procedure. At this point you can start w/ some lower impact aerobic exercises to start building your endurance back. You could be doing some bodyweight squats, lunges maybe some push ups now. and some isometric core contractions and anti-rotation work. At the 10 week mark start light strength training, but careful not to increase intrabdominal pressure excessively and stress the repair. You can progress this very gradually, it's definitely not no pain, no gain, listen to your body, but would totally expect a full recovery and back in the water and not thinking about it. If you want to share what you're doing now, I'd be happy to give you some feedback on that or chat over the phone.
Any advice from dad‘s?
Had a few friends growing up whose dad‘s pushed them hard to Surf. They surfed well, but by the time they were in their late teens, they were burnt out and never really had the same love for it. I have a two-year-old, five-year-old, and six year-old and I’m constantly feeling torn I have much encourage them to Surf. I know “pushing” them is bad and I’ve had other friends tell me just make it about enjoying the beach and the water, but any other advice from dad‘s who have kids that have fallen in love with surfing? PS – got the two year-old in a wetsuit yesterday and got a few waves together. Fortunately, she seems to love it.
Any advice from dad‘s?

I think you just have to let it happen and keep the experiences positive and fun, in any and all sports. The ocean can be scary, sports are tough and the chances a kid is anything more than a recreational anything is pretty slim, about 1% of high school athletes play D1 college. It’s about finding common ground to build the relationship on whether it’s surfing, golf, cooking whatever!

Surfing progression questions ⁉️🌊
What questions do you have about getting better in your surfing? Perfecting the pop up, barrel riding, picking the right board are some that come to the top for me. When you show up to the beach what is running through your mind? We will be planning out some video courses with @Mark McLaughlin this year and wanted to try and answer the questions you have. I want to make sure we answer most, if not all the questions you have. As always, thanks for any and all feedback!

@Joe Sigurdson Hey Joe, I agree w/ Trevor, getting a good pre-surf warm-up can help to get the joints moving a little better, dryland pop-up practice is a must, aside from stretching what else are you doing movement/exercise-wise when you’re not in the water?

@Leason Dancaescu That’s a really large topic, but the focus should be to be as strong, and athletic as possible, kind of so you can handle anything. Building a little muscle and strength is going to help w/ staying healthy and moving a little quicker that can be about 2-3x/week. Then you can build some endurance training in. A few times/week, 2-3, really want to start building a good foundation, manageable pace think conversational or HR in the 120-140bpm if you’re just starting out. It could be running, swimming, biking, anything really, also have to work in about 10-15 minutes of mobility everyday. Once you have a good foundation of 3-6 months of training can start to push and bring in Plyometrics, sprints, more fast twitch type training and really keep you moving well when you’re not getting to surf.
