šŸ‘‰ Share Your ā€œKodak Momentā€ in Self-Publishing This Month!
There’s a reason the phrase ā€œa Kodak momentā€ stayed in our language long after film stopped ruling the world. Kodak didn’t just sell cameras. They sold meaning. A Kodak moment was never about the camera. It was about recognising a fleeting instant and saying: šŸ‘‰ This matters. Remember this. For authors — especially those publishing through KDP — this hits close to home. Because most meaningful moments in publishing don’t look impressive from the outside. They’re quiet. They’re invisible to algorithms. They don’t come with screenshots of bestseller badges. They look like: - finishing a chapter you almost abandoned - uploading your manuscript after weeks of self-doubt - hitting ā€œpublishā€ on your first book - getting your first real reader message - fixing something in your blurb instead of quitting - choosing consistency over perfection for one more day Those are publishing moments. And they’re easy to rush past. But if you don’t pause to name them, you miss the point of why you started writing in the first place. That’s the culture I want this community to hold: Not just celebrating outcomes — but honouring progress. Because books aren’t built in breakthroughs. They’re built in moments you decide not to give up. Question for the community šŸ‘‡ What’s your ā€œKodak momentā€ as an author right now — a small, quiet publishing win that deserves to be acknowledged before you move on to the next task? Share it. Let’s capture the moments that actually build books.

@Krista Brea this is a rough week to ask haha- I've been pretty tired, but I am actually starting to do something - scheduling time during the day to work on my writing, where previously I would do it in the later nights and first thing in the morning...

Big congratulations šŸš€ to the future authors who are moving ahead on getting their books from idea to reality we have @Angela Beswick who leveled up to premium she is actually almost finished with her romance novel, and we have @Nicole Lesley who is also moving ahead with getting her Children's centric book that teaches them to slow down and connect with nature brought into the world! šŸ’„ I want to take a moment to acknowledge this community and the growth I’m seeing here. The engagement, the questions, and the clarity you’re starting to gain around your book ideas has been incredible to watch. Seeing so many of you move from ā€œI have an ideaā€ to ā€œI’m taking real steps to become an authorā€ has made me more invested in this community than ever before. Because of that, I’ve been leveling up behind the scenes too. I recently brought on a Skool mentor who has helped other creators build strong, thriving communities here. Winning Skool games isn’t the goal—but improving the experience, structure, and support inside this group absolutely is. I’m always looking for ways to raise the standard and give you more real value. That’s why I’m shifting Premium from weekly Q&A calls to more hands-on workshops (with replays). These will be focused, practical, and designed to help you move faster instead of staying stuck. Tonight’s workshop is a great example: Profitable Book Topics. In this training, I’ll break down why books perform better when they’re SEO-optimized from the very beginning—especially if you don’t have a large audience yet. This is the exact foundation that gives your book a real chance to rank, sell, and grow organically. This workshop is exclusive to Premium members, so make sure you check the calendar. One more important update: we’re rapidly approaching 400 members. When we hit that milestone, Premium pricing will increase from $20/month to $40/month. If you’re already Premium, your rate stays locked in as a thank-you for being an early supporter.

@Jacqueline Jimenez I love that you love that- it's a metaphor, but I actually did suffer a 'break' 2.5 years ago and it changed so much for me.

This Is What Happens When Your Book Goes Viral on TikTok
One thing I want everyone here to understand is just how much opportunity exists outside of Amazon when it comes to selling your books — and TikTok Shop is a big one right now. That’s why I invited a fellow author @Gwen Taylor into the community. Her journey is a real example of what’s possible when you treat your book like an asset instead of a one-time project. FOLLOW GWEN ON TIKTOK Gwen started on TikTok in 2025 with one clear goal: sell her book. We worked together on creating some video content, then she was able to get connected with a network of content creators. No complicated funnels. No huge audience. Just consistency and positioning. Then her book ā€œThe Burnt Out Bitchā€ went viral. She has sold close to 4,000 šŸ’° copies directly on TikTok alone. What most people miss is the second-order effect: those TikTok sales didn’t just stay on TikTok. They boosted her visibility, credibility, and momentum — which then supercharged her Amazon sales as well. This is proof of something I say all the time: As an independent publisher, you are not limited to one platform. šŸ“– One book = an asset. šŸŖ Multiple marketplaces. šŸš€ Scalable opportunities. If you’ve been thinking too small about what your book can do, let this be your reminder that publishing is leverage — but only if you’re willing to use it. šŸ‘‡Want to know more about what it takes to be successful on Tiktok shop?

Treya is professional arts organization consultant. She's good at her job and things are as close to perfect as she could have hoped for after she suddenly lost her job. In her very normal life, strange mysteries begin to happen- a confusing sighting, a missing person, and a community that more questions than answers for her.
