👋 Hey Guys!...Let's Take The Time To Introduce Ourselves...
My name is Jenn Richardson, my husband, Grant Richardson and I created this group, TradBowhunter - Ethical Predator. We are from Ontario, Canada, I have had a love for the outdoors since I was little. My grandfather being a conservation officer in the United States and my other grandfather a trapper here in Ontario. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 26yrs, love the outdoors, marketing and business so decided to put all three together! This is a passion piece for Grant and I...My hubby being the subject matter expert with Traditional Bowhunting as well as an author, podcast host and 3rd generation traditional bowhunter. We wanted to bring like minded people together and create a place to share their experiences with traditional bowhunting. ----------------- Hey folks! Grant Richardson here - about myself... I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.

I started bowhunting with my dad in the early 80's in SW washington for roosevelt elk and blacktail deer. I tried an elk bugle for the first time in 1985 and called a 5pt roosevelt into 10 yards my first morning. i climbed back out of the reprod to find my dad shaking and breathless. I immediately became an 18 year old archery elk hunting addict. A couple years later i found myself calling in several bulls on an out of state hunt in Hells Canyon country in eastern oregon.... I was hooked even worse! I had never seen country like that! I ended up working on a ranch in the hells canyon area and moving to NE Oregon to finish college and hunt elk! I currently live in Sisters, Or and have hunted most of the wilderness country in NE oregon mostly with "old school" long axle to axle finger shooting compound bows. I have always loved bowhunting but never really enjoyed the shooting very much..... until i finally bought a used jim brackenbury recurve on ebay around 20 years ago. However because of the needs of my large family i havent had much to hunt (or practice) so the bow mostly has been hanging in the garage with a used longbow i got about the same time. I " settled" for my compound and 20 and 30 yard pins to carry on my short elk hunts. About 4 years ago i realized how much i loved the trad bows and quite honestly hated where modern tech was taking both archery and gun hunting. Now one of my life's biggest regrets is not starting with a tradbow back in the 80's! there is no doubt i would have enjoyed bowhunting at a whole new level with these beautiful bows. Also being part of the amazing trad community that i hear so much about on podcasts, videos and groups like this is so inspiring and refreshing. I deliver groceries all over central and eastern oregon so podcasts have become a big part of my driving life. My favorite was the "tradquest" but I have heard and been inspired by hunters all over the world on many different podcasts Hunting with a trad bow is the best! I could easily be a bow collecting junkie but this recurve is so amazing. Its a 67# brackenbury legend. Since i had a bunch of xx78 superslam aluminum arrows from back in the day I now shoot those nicely in this bow with 350 grain grizzly stick ashby broadheads.
