@Adam Lloyd I’m talking to a mate who may find it a bit overwhelming, but it would be beneficial if he can make it work for him.

@Adam Lloyd I want to make sure he’s ready to commit before I pass him on, these spaces are life changing opportunities.
The problem with this being FREE
Guys, here's some honest talk... The intention was to always keep access to this community free - but I've now seen a problem with that. We've got 66 members and I only ever see the same 3 or 4 active here. Why? Because when you get something for free, you don't value it as much and don't make the most of it. I would much rather have 40 members with really high engagement than 100 with very low engagement. Therefore, once we hit 80 members, I'll be moving the free tier to £9/mo. DON'T WORRY - you guys already here, and anyone else who joins before we reach 80 will have grandfather rights and maintain your no cost access. When people pay - even a little - the are more likely to either engage or leave. That is what I want. So, take the opportunity. Any of your family or friends who you feel could benefit from access here, send them your referral link ASAP. Peace!

I agree. You see the same thing in counselling: when sessions are completely free, non-attendance is often much higher. Without any personal investment, people can value the appointment less and may not show the same respect for the counsellor’s time. Even a modest fee creates commitment and encourages people to make proper use of what’s available. £9 a month is still highly accessible, but gives membership enough value that people are more likely to engage with it.
Help me, help you!
Guys - I've tried setting up weekly support calls before but no-one attends. I run them for my paying clients and they get a lot of value. so, what more support do you need? Would you like a weekly call for a Q&A, weekly teaching topic, share wins and challenges etc.? If so, when each week? Let me know and we'll make it happen.

An alternative idea could be a section on here where we can each take responsibility to check in with anything that’s causing us issues. Then irrespective of time zone for our international brothers, you can pick that up and respond with either resources, advice or set up a 1-1 call? It may even be that another member of the community can help. An accountability chat between two brothers to keep each other accountable and on track. A call with you to recalibrate a training approach. A chat with me about anything mental health or emotional wellbeing related.

I’d use a short form, I think. It provides enough structure for us to understand the issue and direct it appropriately, while allowing men to ask privately if they don’t want to post publicly. We could include: - What are you struggling with? - What support would help: advice, resources, accountability, training guidance or emotional wellbeing? - Would you prefer support from Adam, Liam or another member? - Are you happy for this to be discussed in the community, or would you prefer a private response? We could then use occasional polls for quick community check-ins and identifying common themes.
Reduced isolation may be an active ingredient in group-based trauma work
This study supports everything we’re about at StrongDads. Brotherhood, community, shared hardship and shared problems. Opportunities to hear similar experiences, witness another man working through difficulty, contribute support and discover that struggle is not evidence of personal failure. A brief isolation/belonging measure could help test whether this is actually occurring. 🔱 A secondary analysis of an RCT involving 60 adults with PTSD compared two very different 16-week online programmes: an Internal Family Systems-informed intervention and a nature-based stress-reduction programme. Both combined weekly group sessions with fortnightly individual sessions. In both arms, reduced isolation was associated with less self-judgement, better emotional regulation and reduced PTSD symptoms. Joss et al., Scientific Reports, accepted 13 July and published 18 July 2026 - What is new: The study begins to examine why groups help, rather than merely whether they help. Despite markedly different content, reduced feelings of being alone in one’s suffering appeared important in both programmes. - Why it matters: Brotherhood may be more than a pleasant by-product of group work. Recognising one’s struggles in another person can reduce shame and self-criticism, potentially creating more capacity for regulation and change. - For counselling: A group can complement individual work by addressing the belief that “this is uniquely wrong with me”. In individual sessions, carefully chosen normalisation may offer part of the same corrective experience.

@Adam Lloyd My main take-home lesson is that we shouldn’t assume brotherhood happens automatically, we can build it intentionally. More paired conversations, shared reflection and questions like, “What have you been carrying that you thought you were carrying alone?” could help men recognise themselves in others. A brief belonging check-in could also show whether StrongDads is genuinely helping men feel less isolated. 🔱
