How you speak to yourself matters
The Illusory Truth Effect can shape self-perception regarding body image, competence, and worth by constantly reinforcing the same internal messages. Negative self-talk often becomes a habit, making it the default, easy-to-process, and trusted narrative. So many of my clients start with me because they are stuck in the loop of negative self-talk. They feel as though they are failing, lost, stuck, and struggle to move through their own mental processes. Here are ways to combat what might feel ingrained in your psyche: 1) Positive Affirmations: Repeatedly telling yourself positive, realistic statements such as “I am capable,” “I can handle this challenge,” or “I am learning” can foster a genuine belief in them. 2) Distance Your Self-Talk: Research suggests that referring to yourself in the third person (using your name) rather than “I” when speaking to yourself can create psychological distance, which reduces anxiety and helps in regulating emotions. 3) Become Your Own Fact-Checker: Challenge negative thoughts by asking, “Is this actually true?” Use the “Friend Test”: Ask yourself if you would speak to a loved one with the same harshness you use on yourself. 4) Journaling: Writing down your thoughts helps transfer them from the mind, objectively. In short, because the brain confuses familiarity with truth, the thoughts you repeat the most often are the ones you will eventually believe. By intentionally repeating positive and constructive thoughts, you can change your perceived reality. How often do you speak to yourself with love and kindness? Please reach out if you’d like to learn more x

Identity Crisis
Lately, I’ve been feeling something I don’t think we talk about enough as founders… An identity crisis. Not in a dramatic, everything-is-falling-apart kind of way… More like, “Wait… what am I actually building right now?” And if I’m being real with you—The Founder's Guild is going through that with me. Who am I as a solo leader? What is this community without my co-founder? I think there’s this expectation that once you “pick a path,” you’re supposed to just lock in and go. But that’s not actually how it works. Growth changes you. And when you change… your business has to change, too. Steve Jobs got kicked out of Apple. The company HE started. And during that time, he went through a massive identity shift. He started NeXT. He invested in Pixar. He refined his taste, his philosophy, his leadership. And when he came back to Apple— He didn’t just “execute better.” He built a completely different company than before. Elon Musk went from PayPal → rockets → electric cars → AI. Even Oprah Winfrey shifted from news anchor → talk show host → network owner → spiritual teacher. So maybe the identity crisis isn’t a bug… Maybe it’s a signal. A signal that: - You’re outgrowing your current container - Your vision is expanding faster than your structure - You’re being asked to get more honest about what you actually want For me right now, that looks like: Letting go of what I think this should be Getting real about what actually feels aligned And being willing to rebuild parts of this from a deeper place Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s unclear. Even if I don't come across as the "perfect community leader who has it all together all the time." And I have a feeling I’m not the only one. If you’re building something—especially with ADHD—you probably feel this too sometimes. That tension between wanting clarity and constantly evolving. So instead of pretending I have it all figured out… I’m choosing to share this with you. Because this community isn’t about perfection. It NEVER was.

Thank you for sharing this @Bill Widmer x We are constantly being asked to evolve and transform, but we have to first make space for what wants to enter. In order to do that we need to let go-even if what we're letting go of was once the thing that we were working so hard to hold. The beauty in these moments of growth is in the opportunity to acknowledge who you have become and meet yourself where you are. I went through a stage of self doubt recently, going back and forth about if I am worthy of what I am working towards. The message that came up was to work on your self doubt: that which you are doubting is what needs your energy and attention. Put practice into the thing you are doubting to build the confidence you need to grow into everything you are already becoming. We are the only ones standing in our way, but from where I'm standing @Bill Widmer, you are an absolute champion!

@Bill Widmer xx My doubts ebb and flow around finances to be honest. I've got two main projects that I have been putting all my energy into. I am pitching for funding for the one now to get it off the ground, while the other is taking some time to generate income. Patience, trust, consistency, and discipline have been my driving forces through this.
Food and Brain Health
I grew up with a mother who had a terrible relationship with food. Instead of fueling our diet with vegetables and nutrient-dense meals, we would often be fed pre-cooked meals with minimal nutritional value. It didn't matter how hard I would study or how much I would train, my body and mind were always limited. I was frequently tired, malnourished, and found it difficult to concentrate. Now, as an adult, I have learnt the value of food as fuel-not only for your body, but also for your brain. Proteins, Omegas, Electrolytes, Iron. What I've observed in different working environments is how we 'don't have time' to eat a full meal, and instead consume way too much caffeine (as an example) when our bodies get tired. Imagine putting oil into a car that needs fuel-sure, it will run smoothly for a bit, but eventually it'll stop. Unless it is given what is actually needs to keep going. The key to progress, success, and optimal brain function is FOOD. Not just a dash to McDonalds, but a colourful plate of vitamins and nutrients that will fuel your mind and help you focus. The more fruits and vegetables you have in a day, the less likely you are to need all those pills and supplements. It's time we start using what we have and rebuilding our relationship with food, especially if we struggle to concentrate or find ourselves burning out. Do you find time to eat the right foods and take breaks to fuel your body? Or are you burning the engine and only giving it attention when it starts crashing?

@Christina Hooper thanks for asking x A big shift for me was adding vegetables to my diet to be honest. I had never understood nutrition and intentional eating. So learning how food affects my body and my mind was definitely a turning point. What about you?

@Yukta Kandhari 100% It also makes you more conscious of what you're putting into your body and why x
Asking for Help
As a practitioner and life coach, I have noticed how difficult it is for people to commit to themselves. To invest in their own self-development and wellbeing. We will easily buy supplements, courses, and self-help books-spending so much on trying to 'fix' what we think is misaligned within us instead of simply asking for help. We convince ourselves that spending these small sums of money is better than spending 3 months getting the guidance and learning the tools, but the loop continues until we decide to take the leap. 99% of people have ideas that could change their world, but only 1% actually execute them, why do you think that is? Because we convince ourselves that we will fail before we even give ourselves the opportunity to try. It's the idea of 'playing it safe'. Imagine you could have everything you ever wanted. Imagine it all worked out. What's stopping you from believing in yourself? That's where asking for help becomes the super power. You are not meant to do it all alone. This community is a great example of how support and unity create success. Let this be the space where you share where you are, and ask for help if you feel lost, stuck, alone, or demotivated. I can comfortably say that I have been there, and I have devoted my time to supporting others through the same. Feel free to comment below or DM me with what you're experiencing. Let me help you carry it, so it doesn't have to feel so heavy anymore x Sending love always

@Bill Widmer this post is to share what I’ve noticed with a lot of my clients. How they’ve held onto so much that they can’t see ahead. What I’ve observed and experienced is how much can be released just through sharing. I can openly say that I have been struggling to reach the dream I’ve created for myself. To the point that I forget to celebrate what I have achieved and how far I’ve come. I have a very strong will, and have been extremely hard on myself, but after my meeting myself where I am, life became colourful again. If I were to ask for help, I would ask to learn how to reach more people who are seeking their own light. To connect, to grow, to share ♥️

@Bill Widmer understandable ♥️ yeah, it’s growing. It’s really asking for patience, consistency, and discipline 🙏
Productivity vs Time
How many of you work in 'normal' 9-5 working hours? Does that mean that when the clock hits 5pm your brain switches off and all creativity stops? We live in a world where productivity is defined by how much time and energy to put into something, even if it means you're burning out. This is where ADHD really shines as a super power. Many of us work in irregular times-I personally get sparks of creativity just as I start preparing for bed. Why is that? Because my brain has less pressure and distractions as the night slowly quiets. It has taken a while for me to unlearn that when these boosts of creativity hit, I must follow them. It's in fact the energy that I was pushing the whole day that now has the space to speak and be heard. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean getting out of bed and 'burning the midnight oil', your body and brain still need the rest. But just like Rick Rubin says, use the energy whenever it comes and follow it until you feel satisfied. You can dive into the details behind the creativity in your 'normal' work day, but don't force yourself to sleep when you're getting fuelled with great ideas before bed. There is so much more I can say on this, but let's use the comments to discuss further x

@James Sopp Interesting, and do you find that you are still accomplishing tasks and moving forward in your day this way? As someone juggling many different projects, I find that there has to be a level of balance in the routine I create, otherwise I tend to do a lot, but not actually get anything done

@James Sopp This is so important, thank you for sharing! Yeah, it's taken me a long time to create a flow that keeps me moving forward while still allowing time to rest and soften. I often have to remind myself of this and finish a task before overwhelming myself with 'what still needs to be done'.
