Feedback, Please...
We had a really great conversation in the PERSONALS yesterday, and some of us ended up chatting for more than 2 hours! Our next session will be on Wednesday but at a different time, so make sure to check your calendar and block off the date because we will be doing a recorded round-table where you will get to introduce your group, your expertise, and who your group is for. The recording will then be posted to the community as a whole, so you will want to make sure you are there for that! After the round-table, we will turn the recording off and open up for discussion for as long as people want to stay (within reason, I'm not sure I have the stamina for one of @Alexander Walter 's 5-hour marathons!!!! 😂). We discussed many things including how to plan for more members joining the Classifieds (our goal is 10,000 members 🤩). The discussion was around how to make sure that everyone still has the opportunity for visibility when there will be so many members posting. The feeling was that post people won't scroll past the first page. 💡 An idea was put forward to get rid of the General Discussion and Communities tabs (and possibly the Freebies tab) and instead have the categories be based on topics - tech, relationships, health and wellness, education, hobbies... I'm not sure how detailed or specific we would want to go - I guess that would be the next decision. I don't want to have too many categories, so that is something to consider as well... ‼️ I'm looking for feedback to see what the group thinks. For any decision I make, I always make it through the mission, vision, and values of the group, and for this group the simplified answer is this: mission - visibility for all through exposure and enhanced connections and collaborations; vision - 10,000 members interacting and supporting each other in their growth; values - high-quality everything so that there is a reason for people to join, to interact, and to keep coming back!

@Faith Adebayo Right now, the way it’s set up, anyone can post in general discussions. I’m the only one who can post in Announcements and From the Editor, and the way I have it set up is Announcements are about the Classifieds and From the Editor is about my other group. I would like to get rid of general discussions, though. Thoughts?
'Don't get a puppy for Christmas' ... they say
But the fact of the matter is - there's nothing stopping you from getting a puppy over the Christmas period... And you know what? I'm not judging! Infact, as long as you're not buying a puppy for an unexpected relative, Christmas time is probably one of the best times to get a pup! - Your pup gets exposure to new people, sounds and smells - The whole family is around to help - Its a time where you're most likely to be attentive to your pups toilet training needs BUT - Puppy biting is non stop - Your pup is over stimulated - You can't take pup for a walk yet so don't know how to entertain them properly Don't panic - I'm here to help! I'm Sarah - a qualified puppy training specialist (of over 12 years!) And am here to help! Join my community of puppy owners who are in the same boat as you or have 'been there, done that' and want to help! My classroom is packed full of puppy training resources to get you started and my live calls will give you the help, guidance and support that you need. Great post!
HOW IT WORKS - READ THIS FIRST
Ever wonder how you can let people know about your Skool community? Feel like you have so much to offer but don't know how to get people involved? Wish there was somewhere you were actually allowed to promote yourself and talk about your offer? Look no further! The Skool Classifieds are the place where you are not only allowed to promote yourself, but you are actually encouraged to do so! Like the Classifieds section of your local newspaper or the Community Message Board at the gym, this is the place to let people know what you do and what you offer. Here's how it works: 1. Invite other Skoolers you know to join the group using your invite link. The more people join, the more people there are to promote to! 2. You can post once a day only. This is to keep the group from getting spammy. If it's spammy, people won't read and you won't get noticed. Post as many days in a row as you want, but please do not post the same thing day after day - mix it up! 3. Make sure you add your post to the appropriate group/heading. Please see below for a description of what each group is for. If you don't see a group that is appropriate, message me. 4. Self-Promotion is what this group is all about, but please do not DM people with your offers. You will be removed from the group for doing this. 5. Introduce yourself in this thread, and then scroll up and find someone you have something in common with. Reach out. There are some really amazing people here! 😉 This is a place for us to support each other for our mutual benefit. Hate speech, offensive language, or general negativity will be deleted, and you will be removed from the group. *Please check out this post for more tips on how to get great results from your posts. And also this post by one of our own community members who has had great success growing his group through the CLASSIFIEDS.

@Mike Gagnon No, the reason for one post a day is so that everyone’s post gets seen without being pushed down too quickly. What are you thinking of posting that isn’t self-promotion..?

@Mike Gagnon We do that on Friend Friday. Otherwise you have to promote yourself… 😉
The CLASSIFIEDS Premium Tier - Everything You Need to Know!
If you are already on the Premium tier and want to know how to make the most of it, or are thinking about upgrading, here is everything you need to know... ⭐️ 🗞️ In the Standard tier, you can post in the community once a day in any category (except for days with a hashtag prompt, then you get an extra post!). There are two kinds of acceptable community posts: "anything" promoting your Skool group, or offers that are free (freebies, free workshops, podcast promotions, your own YouTube channel promotions). You can see the list of categories in the How It Works pinned post. These "rules" are for both standard and premium members. 🌟 🗞️ Now for the additional benefits for Premium members: 1. Premium members are allowed to put an "ad" in the classroom to advertise anything they want - free or paid. The ad stays up for as long as they are a premium member. Ads rotate weekly. 📰 You can place your ad by creating a draft course in your own community and then copying the course key and sending it to me to copy into the Classifieds. Course keys can be found by going to the thumbnail of the course in your classroom and clicking on the three dots in the top right corner. 2. Premium members also have access to all live events on the calendar. This includes meetups twice a month (called the PERSONALS) and open drop-ins once a month. 📆 The meetups are structured and focus on improving your visibility as well as helping you make connections and foster collaboration. 3. Premium members also have the opportunity to host their own free masterclass for all members on the CLASSIFIEDS calendar. This gives you the chance to provide value to the members and then pitch your group or product at the end. 💵 In order to qualify to host a masterclass, you have to first take my How to Teach a High-Value, High-Converting Masterclass workshop ($27). The next one is being offered on January 6th with doors opening for registration January 2nd. After taking the prerequisite workshop, the first masterclass you offer is of no charge. Subsequent masterclasses that you would like to offer will be subject to a $10 administrative fee.

Binging Your Course Like Netflix is NOT the Goal!!!
Having your students binge your course like it's a hot new Netflix series might sound like a good goal, but it's actually the last thing you want them to do. If your students are binging your content, it means that you haven't provided enough opportunities for practice and you haven't done a good enough job facilitating implementation. Our brains can't absorb, retain, and transfer a ton of knowledge in one sitting (or even a few sittings), so it is our job to chunk that information properly and then support the retention and transference of that knowledge into usable skills. So, while it may seem like something to strive for, the last thing we want is for our members to binge our content, say, "Well that was really interesting!" and then go about their day in the exact same way they were prior to taking your course. To learn more about setting up your classroom strategically for both the success of your students and your own success, make sure you attend the Now What? session in the Classifieds on Wednesday. Find the time in your time zone on the calendar, and if you can't make it, the replay will be available for a few days after the session. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment below! 👇

@Éva Raposa It’s hard to answer precisely without knowing exactly what kind of course you’re referring to, but I’ve found that at the end of every lesson there’s opportunity for action before implementing even if it’s just a reflection or an opportunity to think critically or to plan for action…

@Jes Solo It’s not about absorbing it, and it’s not about intelligence. It’s about being able to apply the information in a critical way. Obviously this will depend on the length of the course and the difficulty of the skills being taught, but my point is that if it’s possible for someone to binge your course, then you might not be going deep enough…
