(with apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning)
How do I move forward? Let me count the ways.
I move when first I name the thing I fear,
And cease to wait until the road seems clear,
Or certainty illuminates my days.
I move by questioning the old delays,
The whispered doubts I once allowed too near;
By choosing one small step, then persevering here,
And trusting action more than perfect ways.
I move when purpose calls me from my chair,
When those I might yet serve outweigh my doubt,
When "someday" yields to "now," and I begin.
No map need show me everywhere or where
The winding road may ultimately come out;
I move by moving. That is how I win.
