Travel, Safety & the Myth of “Relaxing Trips”
One thing I’m being reminded of during my travels: Travel is not automatically relaxing for the nervous system. Even when a place is beautiful. Even when people are kind. Even when it’s your dream destination. Your body still has to adapt to: - new beds - new sounds - new foods - new climates - new rhythms - unfamiliar environments To the nervous system, “new” does not always mean “safe” yet. And that matters. If you need more nervous system regulation while you travel there is a mini class in Nervous System Foundations. Today was such a living lesson in Grounded Body Protocol.
Not strategy. Not manifestation. Not effort. Receiving. I am writing from the amazing valley of Ninh Binh, Vietnam. I left my lodge for a day adventure, I am still jet legged plus the young people next door last night were up having fun till 2am… and if you know me personally you know that I enjoy to sleep by 9:30pm and get a good sound night of sleep or my brain won’t function properly (Splenic Projector here iykyk). I forgot my wallet. My driver lent me money. A woman I just met paid for my lunch without hesitation. Kindness arrived before I could “fix” anything. And the real work wasn’t logistics. It was letting support land without shrinking, apologizing, or over-explaining. This is Pluto + Neptune + Aquarius in real life. Pluto: dissolving the old identity of “I must handle everything alone.” Neptune: learning to trust life instead of controlling it. Aquarius: being held by community, not performance. YinQi Flow isn’t about becoming softer on the surface. It’s about allowing your nervous system to believe: “I am safe to receive.” “I don’t have to earn kindness.” “I don’t lose power when I’m supported.” This is the retreat energy. Not escaping life. Letting life meet you. If your system still equates receiving with weakness, debt, or danger, this is your invitation to recalibrate. Receiving is regulation. Receiving is sovereignty. Receiving is the new strength.
