Masks
We spend our days shifting shape. The version of you that shows up for your neighbor is not quite the version your colleague sees. The one your friends know softens or sharpens for your family, depending on the room. Each of these is a costume, stitched together over years to keep you safe, to keep you liked, to keep the peace. But strip away the audience and something else remains. Alone with your thoughts, with no one left to perform for, there is a quieter presence waiting. That one has been there the whole time, watching the costumes come and go. Spiritual growth is not about finding a new mask that fits better. It is about learning to trust the one who was never wearing one at all.
