When working on your mindset, vagueness is your enemy
"I don't want to worry too much" is a very common answer I get when I coach confidence or resilience, and this answer is consistent with how most people think and talk to themselves.
(including myself in the past).
The more I work on my mindset and self-talk, the more I realise that definitions and words matter a lot!
How you frame the first question guides the entire conversation you have with yourself.
If you set your goal or expectations with vague language, you can't fully optimise for and know how much you have progressed.
Another example would be: what's confidence?
We all know what I am talking about, but if you want to optimise for Confidence without the clarity of what exactly it is, then what chances do you have to succeed?
That's like going to the gym to be "stronger".
Stronger how? What for?
Maxing your PR with the bench press won't fully translate to grappling.
